A Warrior's Second Chance (Faye and Alexander) novel Chapter 654

Chapter 630

Chapter 630

PAYE

After leaving my parents’ quarters that night, I returned to my room and closed the door behind

The house had been warm and lively while I was with them, and for a while, I had almost forgotten that I was staying somewhere different. Being around my parents again had a way of doing that to me. It made Silver Hollow feel familiar in a way I hadn’t realized I had missed.

I changed into something more comfortable and eventually stepped out onto the balcony.

The night was still young. At least, that was what I thought.

I rested my arms against the railing and looked out over the grounds.

The compound was unusually quiet.

There were lights scattered around the pack house and the surrounding buildings, but there were hardly any people moving around. The few people I could see were dressed like guards, stationed at different points around the property.

I frowned slightly.

Where had everyone gone?

It wasn’t late enough for the entire pack house to be this quiet.

I had spent enough time in Silver Hollow to know what the evenings usually looked like in the pack house. This was normally when people began settling into the common areas, talking with one another, sitting outside, or simply moving around the compound before eventually retiring for the

night.

Instead, there was barely anyone in sight.

I wondered if things had changed while I was away. Perhaps everyone had simply developed better sleeping habits.

I almost laughed at the thought.

My phone rang before I could think about it any further.

I looked down and immediately smiled when I saw Alexander’s name on the screen.

I answered the call.

“Miss me?” I asked.

“Of course. How are you?”

I leaned against the railing again. “I’m fine.”

“You’re sure?”

“Yes, Alexander.”

There was a brief pause.

“How’s Silver Hollow?”

I looked around the compound.

“It’s fine. I’m enjoying home.”

“Good.” I could hear the amusement in his voice.

“I miss you already… I wish you were here.” I meant it. I had just been away for a few hours, and I was already tired of staying without him.

“Then

you can cut your visit short and come back tomorrow,” he joked.

I rolled my eyes.

“Nice try.”

“You could leave in the morning,” he added.

“I could,” I admitted. “But I’m not going to. I’m being taken care of.”

“Really?”

“Very much,” I said.

“Good.”

“They’re practically pampering me here,” I added, just to get a reaction.

That made him laugh.

“I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself.”

There was something warm in his voice that made me smile.

I hadn’t expected to miss him this quickly.

Then again, I had become used to having him around. Even when we weren’t talking, simply

knowing he was somewhere nearby had become part of my everyday life.

We spoke for a little while longer, mostly about nothing important. I told him about my parents,

about seeing Sage again, and briefly mentioned how different the territory looked compared to

What I remembered.

Eventually, Alexander told me he needed to get some work done before going to bed.

“We’ll talk tomorrow,” he said.

“Alright.”

“I might still call you later before I sleep,” Alexander said.

“Please don’t.”

He laughed. The call ended, and I lowered my phone. I was about to put it away when I heard a

knock on my door.

I turned toward it.

“Come in.”

The door opened, and Sage stepped inside. She looked at me for a moment before smiling.

“What are you doing?” Sage asked.

“Nothing, really,” I replied, walking towards her.

She glanced toward the balcony before looking back at me.

“Are you just standing there?”

“Apparently,” I said with a small shrug. “The view is good, and I get to take in some fresh air.”

She walked farther into the room, still looking at me. “Come with me,” she said.

I raised an eyebrow.

“Where?”

Sage shrugged. “Let’s take a walk. I think it’s a lot better than just standing here doing absolutely

nothing.”

I looked toward the balcony before turning back to her. “It’s not that bad. In fact, I was actually planning to stay here and relax.”

Sage rolled her eyes. “Come on, you’ve been sitting inside all evening.”

gave her a look before answering. “I’ve been visiting Mom and Dad. Of course, we were inside.”

“Exactly. And now you’re back in your room.”

I hesitated for a moment. Part of me genuinely wanted to stay where I was. I was tired from the drive, and I had already spent most of the day moving around.

However, another part of me wanted to enjoy being here. It had been months since I had been in Silver Hollow, and there was something strangely comforting about walking around a place that

had once been so familiar to me.

So, I picked up my phone and followed her.

“Fine.”

Sage smiled.

“I knew you’d agree.”

We left the room and started walking through the compound. For the first few minutes, neither of us said much as we walked.

“Is everyone asleep already?” I asked.

Sage glanced at me.

“What?”

I gestured toward the quiet compound.

“It’s so quiet.”

She laughed.

“Not everyone is asleep. Some are training,” Sage explained.

I stopped walking for a moment, and I could hear voices from afar.

“Training at night? Since when?”

“Since Jason started taking training more seriously,” Sage said.
