"Yeah," Leonora said, "Joselyn left her purse there last time. I'll grab it for her tomorrow."
Nearby, Taylor listened to Leonora, feeling a wave of happiness. He was thrilled that Leonora was willing to go back to Southbay and even bring a friend along.
"Getting to Southbay from here is pretty easy," he offered. "How about I take you now? Save you a trip tomorrow."
Leonora considered his suggestion. It was a simple drive, after all. "Sure, let's go now."
They were already out, so why not?
With her agreement, Taylor started the car and headed towards Southbay.
Twenty minutes later, they parked in an underground lot, and a familiar scent hit them.
Taylor was flooded with memories. He never thought he'd come to Southbay with Leonora again.
For the past two years, he had visited Leonora's neighborhood many times but never Southbay. He was afraid that if they accidentally ran into each other, she might feel forced to give up the apartment he gave her.
He didn’t want to risk losing the little they had left.
They exited the car and walked side by side through the elevator lobby. Taylor's mind played a reel of past memories.
He wanted to hold her hand but restrained himself.
Soon, they reached the apartment. Leonora unlocked the door with her fingerprint and stepped inside.
Her heart raced, unsure how to act in the apartment Taylor had given her. But they were here now, so she decided to just grab the bag and go.
The door clicked open.
Everything inside was exactly as it had been, unchanged.
Leonora hadn't been here much in the past two years, only coming over when Joselyn needed a place to escape. Each visit felt like rubbing salt in her wounds, bringing back old memories.
As she entered, Taylor felt like he was transported back two years. Visions of their past filled the room—Leonora's laughter, her playful antics, her quiet moments on the sofa watching TV.
And himself, always loving to hold her, his hands wandering over her body.
Every corner of this place held their memories.
Though it was Grant who initially brought them together, Taylor couldn't deny the happiness he felt during those two years with Leonora.
Just being back today made him happy.
"I've got Joselyn's purse," Leonora said, finding it on the sofa as Joselyn had mentioned.
"Mm," Taylor replied softly, hands in his pockets, his eyes filled with melancholy and memories.
Seeing him so moved, Leonora suggested, "Taylor, do you want to look around the apartment? Go ahead."
It was his place, after all, and revisiting it likely stirred up emotions.
As she spoke, Taylor reached to caress her face, longing for the past.
