30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 548

Leonora's words hung in the air, leaving Shania momentarily stunned. She blinked, trying to process what she'd just heard.

"Arielle, what did you just say?" Shania's eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at her daughter.

Leonora felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her. It was the first time she had ever mentioned having a boyfriend to her family, and the awkwardness of the moment was palpable. It was as if she had grown up overnight.

Under her mother's scrutinizing gaze, which was a mix of surprise and suspicion, Leonora tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I said I have a boyfriend now, so you and Peyton don't need to worry about it anymore."

Before Shania could respond, Leonora hurriedly added, "He's a colleague from work, and we’ve only just started seeing each other. So, Mom, please don’t rush me into bringing him home. If things go well, I'll introduce him to you and Dad when the time is right."

Leonora's ears turned red with shyness as she spoke. Seeing her daughter's flushed ears, Shania didn't need any more confirmation. It was clear—Leonora had a boyfriend.

"Alright then, take your time getting to know him. Bring him home when things are stable between you two," Shania said, not wanting to press Leonora too much.

"Mhm," Leonora nodded, relieved that using Taylor as an excuse seemed to work, sparing her from further interrogation.

Just then, her mother's phone rang.

"Leah," Shania answered. "Arielle's back. I told her about that matter, and she said she has a boyfriend now. He's a colleague from her company, and they’ve just started dating."

"Yes! Finally, she’s seen reason."

"We'll wait until they’re more stable before having him over."

Leonora smiled as she listened to her mom's conversation with Peyton, thinking that giving Taylor a chance might not be such a bad idea after all.

After a brief chat, Shania hung up and looked at Leonora. "That was Peyton. She heard you’re seeing someone now. She’ll clear things up with that guy tomorrow."

"She said you’re not getting any younger and should seriously start dating."

"I know," Leonora sighed.

"Arielle, what’s this guy like?" her mom asked, curiosity piqued.

Leonora felt a twinge of shyness as she replied, "He’s a manager at the company. A decent guy. He's nice to me, a local, and financially stable, so living together won't be an issue."

When it came to discussing Taylor's status, Leonora felt uneasy and quickly changed the subject. She knew her parents valued compatibility over wealth, and revealing too much about Taylor might complicate things.

Shania frowned slightly. "What do you mean 'decent'? That sounds vague. Is there something off about him?"

"No, that's not what I meant. He’s genuinely a good person. Let’s leave it at that for now. I'll tell you more once I get to know him better."

"Mom, I'm feeling a bit tired. I'm going to take a shower," Leonora said quickly, eager to escape before she said too much.

Shania watched her go, murmuring to herself about how Leonora always dodged serious conversations. "You were home resting because of a spat with him, weren't you?"

"No, I was actually sick. We’ve only just started going out. I'm still figuring things out myself, what could I possibly tell you?"
