30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 388

Two years ago, when he told her to stop waiting out of the blue, Estrella knew something must have gone wrong. After all, they had known each other for years, and she understood Jason's nature. He could get angry, hold grudges, and argue, but he wouldn’t just tell her to give up on him without a solid reason. Plus, Drew had mentioned that when he quit his job to look for Jason, he had uncovered something from 30 years ago.

Back then, Jason was planning to return, and they were still in touch. His sudden decision to push her away made no sense. This time around, he had hinted twice that he wanted to take her away, so Estrella was almost certain he was in some kind of trouble.

Estrella suddenly woke up, blurting out her question. Jason, chuckling, tousled her hair, "What’s got you up all of a sudden?"

Estrella pushed his hand away. "I’m asking you something. Don’t dodge the question."

Lying on his side, looking at her, Jason gently squeezed her hand and spoke calmly, "It’s nothing."

"Are you sure?" she asked, shifting to peer into his eyes, trying to read him.

Jason laughed softly, "Don’t worry! Even if there’s something, it’s not a big deal."

He clearly didn’t want to delve into the past two years, and Estrella didn’t push him. Instead, she sat up, stretching, "If you don’t want to talk about it, fine! You handle your stuff, and I’ll handle mine!"

As she finished speaking, Jason wrapped an arm around her neck, pulling her close, his gaze intense yet playful, "So, Estrella, what are you planning to do?"

Looking up at him, Estrella spoke nonchalantly, "Find a guy, get married."

Jason's smile grew at her cheekiness, ruffling her hair, "Trying to provoke me?"

"Who’s provoking you?" she retorted, unbuckling her seatbelt and opening the car door to step out. "I’m heading back. Don’t linger here, go home and get some rest."

After closing the car door, Jason got out as well. Approaching her, he tidied her disheveled collar.

Estrella looked up, softly saying, "Go back."

Jason, looking down, insisted, "You first."

As the gate slowly opened, Estrella turned and walked in. Jason watched her leave and then suddenly called out, "Estrella."

She paused and turned around. Jason assured her, "I’ll handle everything. Don’t worry."

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to tell her; he just didn’t want to complicate things or disrupt her life. He had been making progress and just needed a bit more time.

Touched by Jason's sincerity, Estrella smiled and nodded, "I believe you. Now, go get some rest."

"Alright," Jason softly agreed, watching her walk back into the mansion. He left without bringing up matters of the heart.

With her hands in her pockets, Estrella walked back on the gravel path. In the following days, she was swamped with meetings and work, so they didn’t meet. Jason was busy too but still managed to pick up Isaac from kindergarten and spend time with him.

One evening, just after 7 PM, as Jason wrapped up his work, his personal phone rang. It was Kristin.
