"Catrina, this is all my fault. I should never have married Cole. I'll divorce him right now, give him back to you. Just please, let Isaac go."
"Please, I'm begging you."
Tears streaming down her face, Autumn fell to her knees in front of Catrina.
"Mom, what are you saying?" Estrella gasped, rushing to help her up.
No matter how desperate, some things shouldn’t be said so recklessly.
Estrella still called her mom, but seeing her disbelief, Autumn, terrified, pushed her away. "I'm not your mom. Stop calling me that. Never call me that again."
After scolding Estrella, Autumn turned back to the screen, addressing Catrina. "Catrina, everything I'm saying is true. Estrella isn’t my biological daughter; she has no relation to me. If you don't believe me, you can have someone do a blood test right now."
"Estrella has been without her real parents since she was little; Isaac is her only remaining family. Please, return Isaac to her! I'll stay here with you and never see Cole again."
As Autumn knelt there, begging through her tears, Estrella’s usually stoic eyes began to redden. Beside her, Jason was equally shocked, never expecting Catrina to reveal such a big secret.
Korey and Holly were visibly troubled. Korey had given the order: even if it meant tearing the whole industrial park apart, Isaac had to be found.
Watching Autumn cry and beg, Estrella knelt beside her, calmly trying to reassure her, "Mom, please stand up. You don’t have to beg her. We will definitely find Isaac."
But where to start in such a vast industrial park? And if Catrina said Isaac was asleep, was he really? Who knew what she might have given the child?
So, at that moment, Autumn felt that negotiating with Catrina, agreeing to all her terms, was the best way to save Isaac.
Pushing away Estrella's supportive hands, she cried out, "Why won’t you listen? I told you I'm not your mom. Stop calling me that. If I could have had children of my own, I wouldn’t have adopted you. Don’t call me mom again."
If she was her own daughter, she could only bring her trouble, making Catrina target her, venting all her anger on her. So, she decided she would no longer have this daughter, would no longer be her mother.
Autumn's tough love twisted Estrella's heart.
Regardless of whether her words were true or false, she had raised her for so many years, and Estrella had called her mom for just as long. She would always be her mom.
That's when Holly couldn’t stand it anymore, looking up at Catrina to say, "Mom, haven’t you caused enough trouble? It's your own shortcomings, your own lack of ability. Who else can you blame?"
Catrina laughed, "I'm the one lacking? I'm the one without ability?" She continued, "If it wasn't for her saving Cole, if it wasn’t for her morally blackmailing Cole, why would he have broken up with me? Why would he marry her?"
Back then, she and Cole were indeed lovers, and they had indeed broken up.
Thus, she orchestrated the fire seven years ago, wanting Holly to rescue Jason, hoping that Jason would marry Holly out of gratitude. But Serene's sudden appearance disrupted her plans.
So, the person who went after Serene had also been her doing, but Holly ended up taking the blame for everything.
Seeing Cole still haunted by the past after so many years, he said, "Catrina, this is my fault, it has nothing to do with anyone else. If you really want someone to suffer with, I'll go with you."
Hearing Cole offer to accompany her, Catrina laughed, saying, "Cole, if only you had been as steadfast thirty years ago, if only you had chosen to be with the one you loved like Jason did, I wouldn’t have had to suffer all these years."
