30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 173

Jason hadn't planned on arguing with Estrella that night, but when she casually brought out the divorce papers, it was as if she had lit a match to his temper. Divorce had never crossed his mind, yet here she was, bringing it up again and again.

In Waterfall Acres, as soon as Estrella and Jesse entered, Estrella's phone in her pocket started ringing. When she took out her phone and saw it was a call from Jason, she hung up and immediately turned off her phone.

Arguments in the past had room for reconciliation, but this time Jason had crossed a line by asking her father to step back for Holly, and Estrella's heart had turned to ice. She couldn't bear to hear his voice anymore, especially since Holly was very much alive.

Jesse watched as Estrella's face set in stone when she hung up. "Jason?" Jesse asked, her voice edged with concern.

"Yeah," Estrella replied nonchalantly.

Jesse stared at her for a long moment before saying, “If you want to end this, do it. This marriage has been as good as nonexistent anyway.”

Before, Jesse wouldn't have been as blunt as Bryce, who had openly encouraged Estrella to leave. Now, with Holly miraculously back from the dead and some gossip of the Dorvold Group's bid for the Silverbrook project, it was no secret what the fight was about. For Estrella, whatever Jason did was his business, but if he messed with the Dorvold family interests, that was where she drew the line. Thinking about Jason backing Holly in this matter, not a single word of support had left Jesse’s lips.

Then, bending down, Jesse whispered to Estrella's belly, “Little one, I was just speaking off the cuff in the car. Don't take it to heart, and don't trouble your mom.”

Estrella had endured Jason for nearly three years, all for the sake of having a child. Jesse's earlier question about whether Estrella really wanted to keep the child now seemed far too impulsive.

Jesse stood up, hands in her pockets, and replied coolly, "I'm here for you."

Estrella was pregnant, and Jesse had decided to stay by her side. And with a baby on the way, it was best to push forward with the divorce before the Nelson family could object because of the pregnancy.

"Thanks, Jesse," Estrella said softly.

"Let's skip the thanks," Jesse replied.

Inside his Maybach, Jason's face turned sour as he realized Estrella had hung up and turned off her phone. In frustration, he tossed his phone onto the passenger seat.

He picked it back up a moment later and called Grayson.

Before long, they met at a bar. Jason poured himself a stiff drink and downed it in one go, while Grayson watched him in silence. After several glasses, Grayson broke the quiet. "Had a fight with Estrella?"
