Who Knew My Assigned Mechanic Husband Was a Big Shot? novel Chapter 4

She froze at the sight of the man approaching her.

Standing at six-foot-two under the dim glow of the streetlamp, his broad, muscular frame cast a long, imposing shadow. He radiated a cold, mysterious intensity and an undeniably dominant aura.-

For a split second, Sloane was completely captivated.

Could this really be M-0521?

Did he actually come downstairs just to get her?

Was he really that desperate to impress his new bride?

Logan Lennox watched Sloane standing awkwardly beneath a blooming tree, the harsh light washing out her small, pale face, making her look like a stranded kitten.

Driven by an instinct he couldn't place, he closed the distance between them, raising his wrist to show her his band. "I'm your designated match, M-0521. My band just received an alert from the Global Fertility Association saying you were in danger, so it prompted me to come down and get you. Are you okay?"

So that was why.

Sloane quickly shook her head. "I'm fine now!"

The tall man continued, "By the way, my name is Logan Lennox. I assume you already knew that?"

Sloane shook her head again.

She only knew him by his registration number.

Tomorrow, the community office would issue their updated IDs, which would officially display their spouse's name.

"I'm Sloane Sutton."

"I know. I just called you by your name, didn't I? My band gave me the notification."

Sloane offered a stiff, embarrassed smile.

Logan effortlessly grabbed her heavy suitcase. "Let's go home. The place is already unpacked and set up."

Home?

He said the word so casually, as if they had been married for years.

Remembering his narcissistic profile bio, Sloane couldn't help but wonder if he was going to expect physical intimacy on the very first night.

It was late, and the residential complex was dead quiet as the elevator steadily climbed higher.

Sloane snuck a cautious glance at Logan in the reflection of the elevator doors.

In person, he didn't seem nearly as full of himself as his bio suggested. On the contrary, he possessed a stoic, rugged handsomeness, and his towering, muscular physique was undeniably impressive.

She couldn't help but steal one more look.

This time, he caught her.

Their eyes met.

Sloane snapped her head away so fast her neck popped.
