Was he really that desperate to mate?
Sloane stared intently at the silhouette on the screen for a long moment.
Even though it was just an outline, she could make out the sharp, masculine angles of his jaw and a remarkably striking bone structure.
She hesitated, biting her lip.
The other nine twenty-eight-year-olds had painfully brief, apathetic bios. Given her own social anxiety, if she ended up marrying one of them, they could probably go an entire day at home without speaking a single word to each other.
This thirty-three-year-old might be a bit full of himself, but at least he seemed capable of holding a conversation.
Seeing the timer ticking down, she took a deep breath and selected the thirty-three-year-old.
Digital fireworks instantly exploded across the screen, followed by a bold notification: [Congratulations on selecting your ideal match! Please put on the Global Fertility Association's Bio-Bond Band so we can facilitate your reproductive journey!]
Before Sloane could even process what was happening, the automated attendant clamped a sleek, nearly transparent band onto her left wrist.
The device was strictly for monitoring fertility metrics. Scientific studies proved that when a man and a woman entered the honeymoon phase of romance, their bodies naturally secreted dopamine, dropped serotonin levels, and spiked oxytocin, heavily increasing the chances of natural conception.
If a couple cohabitated for an entire year without triggering these chemical changes, it meant no oxytocin was being produced. At that point, the Global Fertility Association would forcefully extract their eggs and sperm, utilizing IVF and surrogacy facilities until a child was successfully produced.
Suddenly, a new notification lit up the band:
[Pursuant to Article 17 of the Marital Promotion Act, you and Male M-0521 have officially entered a probationary marriage. Please move into the designated residence before midnight tonight to begin cohabitation. Address: Valentine Towers, Building 5, Apt 2101.]
Sloane's heart skipped a heavy beat.

Sloane returned to the hospital to finish her shift.
