Chapter 267

Besides the anonymous Alpha, Joseph had scores to settle with his treacherous warriors, but he kept that to himself. He was hell- bent on destroying them when the time came. They had knelt to Cynthia. They had turned on Whitewood. They had helped lock up loyal friends and workers. He would never forget that. But for now, he would lie low.

“Thank you so much for this discussion. It was highly uplifting. I will set up a meeting between us, and Ethan will attend. Will that

be okay?” Joseph asked him.

Malcolm was more than grateful to meet with his unlikely allies. The situation was too dangerous for pride now If Ceenas and Whitewood could stand together, even quietly, then maybe the anonymous Alpha had miscalculated by dividing his pieces instead of

crushing them completely.

“What about your stepfather? Could he be in on it?” Malcolm asked.

Joseph knew Levi looked shady. It was understandable after all that had happened. The anonymous Alpha naming Levi as temporary Alpha had been a clever move because it fed every doubt they already had. But after the whole fiasco with Agnes and everything Levi had revealed, Joseph knew the man could be trusted. Levi had his secrets, yes, but betrayal was not one of them. Not against Amber. Not against the boys he still called his sons.

“Keeping an eye on him,” Joseph told Malcolm.

He did not want to divulge Levi’s allegiance just in case Malcolm decided to switch in the future. The possibility of having a mole in their ranks was useful. If Malcolm believed Levi might be questionable, that could work in their favour later. In times like this, even allies did not need the whole truth at once.

“By the way, I heard Luna Amber is ill. Have you been able to find a donor?” Malcolm asked.

The question drove a spear through Joseph’s heart because they were yet to find one, and the clock was ticking for Amber. Every time someone asked, the answer felt heavier.

“No, we are still searching,” Joseph said, sounding low.

Malcolm smiled on the other end of the call because he had good news for Joseph.

“Leah is B negative and willing to help,” Malcolm said.

Joseph went completely still.

He did not know who Leah was, but he had heard the best news he had heard in a long time. For a moment, the room around him seemed to tilt. B negative. Willing to help. Those words felt too good, almost impossible. After two weeks of dead ends, fear, and Amber fading faster than predicted, the answer had come through the same call they had made to form an alliance.

“What is her price?” Joseph asked with so much joy that he stood up from the chair he was sitting on.

He was willing to pay for it quickly. Money. Land. Favour. Protection. Anything. Anything except the kind of price Agnes had

demanded. Anything except tearing apart the family to keep Amber alive.

“Leah is my half-sister, Joseph. I will ask her to help out. See it more like a friendly favour. All we ask is to be liberated from the

Alpha currently plaguing our lives,” Malcolm said earnestly.

He meant every word.

He had all he wanted, and Leah had offered to do it for free because she liked Luna Amber with all her heart. Malcolm had stalled on the issue because of his predicament, but he was glad he finally had the opportunity to table the matter. It was strange how war could make some things impossible and others suddenly clear.

“As long as we work together, I believe we will fish the bastard out,” Joseph said, unable to contain his joy and excitement.

What were the odds that they would find a donor that easily for their mother, and it would not cost them anything? If anything at all, they had found the donor while making allies. Joseph felt like he could breathe properly for the first time in days. It was not over. Amber was not safe yet. Leah still had to be tested. The surgery still had risks. But there was hope now. Real hope.
