Chapter 165
“What did they want from you?” Joseph asked.
Brad swallowed hard before answering. His voice sounded raw.
“They first thought my wife was helping Alpha Ethan, so they made me call her. Camila and I have a way we communicate in case
we do not want people to know what we are discussing where the mind link is not possible,” Brad explained.
Joseph listened, eyes forward.
“I placed her on speaker, but she already knew what was happening, so she gave them the answer they wanted. They believed he
and I thought they would leave. That was when they tied me to the chair and asked me about Luna Meadow’s session with Camila
Brad continued.
That made Joseph’s frown deepen again. It was Meadow they circled back to. Not Ethan. Not the silver. Not the operation. Meadow.
“I felt it was odd, and honestly, I did not know what was going on with the Luna, so I had nothing to tell them. Then they asked
where Camila kept her notes and journals; I could not tell them because it was confidential. I had resigned myself to death by the
time you showed up,” Brad added.
Joseph said nothing immediately after that because now his imagination was starting to move too fast. Why Meadow? Why would
grown men break into a house, beat a man half senseless, and demand information about Meadow’s therapy? They seemed desperate
for it to be nothing. Desperate for Camila not to know too much. Desperate enough to risk exposure.
Joseph’s mind started throwing out possibilities, some stupid, some ugly, some disturbingly plausible. Could Cynthia be involved?
He hated that the thought came so quickly, but it did. He had just learned she had been seen with Ashley. He already distrusted her.
She had motive enough to meddle where Meadow and Ethan were concerned. Could she have hired some goons to monitor
Meadow’s progress and scare Camila into silence? It sounded possible when framed by his dislike for her.
Ashley too entered his mind. His Luna-wanna-be girlfriend had spent too much time lying and sneaking around lately. She was vain
enough. Desperate enough. Foolish enough to get herself tangled in something ugly if she thought it might help her position But
even as the suspicion rose, Joseph knew better than to settle too quickly into it.
Cynthia and Ashley might fit part of the picture. They had spite. They had reasons to dislike Meadow. They had reasons to want
Ethan unsettled. But three grown men had just died rather than give up information. Men like that did not move for free, and they
did not move for petty jealousy alone. This thing had money behind it. Reach. Influence. Enough to make violence feel routine
Deep down, Joseph knew it was bigger than Cynthia. Bigger than Ashley too. His hatred for Cynthia made her easy to picture in the
centre of any rot around Ethan’s life, but this felt wider than one bitter woman returning for old love
They reached Dr James’s house next. Joseph was relieved to find the man alive and untouched. They did not waste time explaining more than necessary. He was told to gather everything he needed and some clothes and come with them. James did not argue Camila’s earlier call had already frightened him enough that help was welcome, not questioned.

Chapter 165
Once the doctor was with them, they drove to a place suitable for dumping the bodies. That part was done quickly and without
ceremony. After that, they turned toward the cabin. Joseph wanted everybody in one place. Not because the cabin was perfectly safe
It was not. Ethan was there, which by itself made it a target if someone truly meant him harm. But right then Joseph needed people
contained. Visible. Close enough that he could think and move without wondering who was already dead somewhere else.
