Underwater: The Silent Luna novel Chapter 100

Chapter 100

Ethan and Meadow kept kissing while she still sat on his lap, and it did not stay soft for long. What had begun as gratitude and wonder inside that room quickly turned into something warmer, needier, harder to hold back. The new bed was right there beside them, huge and inviting, dressed in sheets that looked too beautiful to touch and yet too tempting to ignore. Meadow’s heart was already racing from everything he had shown her, from the painting above the fireplace, from the little details he had remembered, from the way he had looked at her as if her reaction mattered more than anything else. She felt full of too many things at once. Love. Relief. Desire. A strange sort of ache. It all rushed together until sitting there quietly on his lap no longer felt possible.

Without waiting for him to ask, she shifted herself onto the king-size bed.

The movement was clumsy only for a second. Then the mattress dipped beneath her weight, and the soft lavender scent from the fresh sheets rose around her at once, wrapping around her senses in a way that made the moment feel even more intimate. The bed felt cool and smooth under her hands, but her body was anything but cool. She looked back at Ethan with cheeks warm and eyes bright, and he smiled at her like the sight alone had gone straight to his chest.

He transferred himself onto the bed after her, swift in the way he had learned to be, and even that simple act stirred something inside Meadow. He was trying. Not just today, not just with the cabin, but with her. With them. He was pushing past his own discomfort, past old habits, past the quiet distance he had once wrapped around himself like a shield. All of it was for her, and she

felt it.

“I was worried you wouldn’t like it,” he confessed.

Meadow sat up quickly and shook her head with a wide smile, still too overwhelmed for anything smaller. Her eyes were wet again, but this time from happiness rather than surprise.

“I love it.”

He laughed softly at once, and the sound made her chest swell. It was not the bitter laugh she had heard from him in harder moments. It was lighter. Real. A little shy even, though he would probably hate that word. Meadow watched his face and felt her nerves shift into boldness. She did not want this moment to stay in words. She did not want to keep thanking him with her eyes alone when her whole body was full of what she felt.

So she leaned in and kissed him first.

That seemed to catch him off guard.

Ethan had grown used to Meadow’s sweetness, her gentleness, the way she gave herself to moments carefully and with feeling. But this was different. There was no hesitation in the way she reached for him now. No waiting to be guided. She grabbed onto him and kissed him with a kind of urgency that made his breath deepen almost immediately. He kissed her back hard, glad for her boldness, glad for the shift in her, glad that she wanted him enough to forget her shyness. The kiss deepened quickly, and in the next breath she was on top of him.

The heat between them changed right then.

Chapter 100

She could feel the proof of his wanting even through the layers between them. She had already felt it when she sat on his lap earlier, but now, with the way they were pressed together, with the way his hands had started moving on her as though he could no longer help himself, there was no pretending either of them did not know where this was heading. The knowledge sent a flush all through her body. It made her feel wanted in a way that was soft and overwhelming and a little dizzying too.

Breaking the kiss, Meadow kept her eyes on his face and reached for the buttons of her dress.

She did it slowly at first, partly because she wanted to, partly because she wanted to see his reaction. Ethan’s gaze dropped at once. He watched her hands, watched the fabric loosen, watched the neckline fall open enough to reveal more of her. The look in his eyes made her pulse jump harder. He was not pretending calm now. Not even a little. There was hunger there, plain and hot and focused

entirely on her.
