Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 783

"No worries. Once you graduate, if you ever want to work for me, my door is always open."

"I only follow Mira."

Jillian Lowe looked at Whitlock, speaking timidly.

Why did she feel like this man was bad news?

"Suit yourself. And what's with that look?" Whitlock asked.

"You're always claiming to be a good guy, Whitlock, but honestly, do you think anyone here buys it?" Owen teased.

Whitlock turned his head toward the stage, ignoring them.

"Now, please welcome our top-tier traders..."

The host's voice remained incredibly impassioned.

"Stepping onto the stage now is the renowned fund manager, Phoebe Ross, who broke the record last year with millions of clients..."

"Here is the wealth manager from a leading financial firm, who once..."

"And the Vice President of an elite investment company..."

As the titans of the financial sector took the stage one by one, the atmosphere in the hall reached a fever pitch.

Even Wyatt Wright and his group stared at the figures on stage with undisguised excitement. "If only we could be in their shoes one day. That would be the dream."

Mira wondered if this segment was merely to liven the mood, or if there was a deeper scheme at play.

Next, the financial elites began presenting their respective funds, stock portfolios, and past track records.

"Wow! That fund manager is so handsome. I invested in his fund earlier this year and made enough to buy a brand-new car!"

A woman next to her, sporting arched brows and bright red lipstick, immediately chimed in. "A car is nothing. I made enough to buy a house in the first half of the year."

"Thank goodness I dressed up tonight. That was close! I hope I can make a good impression on him, hehe. Hopefully, he'll let me in on his next big stock pick."

"In reality, the fund she mentioned couldn't even afford a tool shed. It took a massive hit in March, barely broke even in May, and only saw a slight uptick in June."

The financial professionals on stage were just a brief sideshow. After a round of applause, they stepped down to mingle with the audience, pitching their financial products and reeling in new clients.

"If I'm not mistaken, here comes tonight's main event," Whitlock told Mira and Owen.

"Are you ready?"

"What do you think?" Owen replied smoothly.

"Hmph. Whether you're ready or not, I'm not lifting a finger to help." Whitlock crossed his arms, acting aloof. He had just helped them earlier, and they hadn't even appreciated it!

"Even if you hadn't shown up today, the earth would still keep spinning," Owen shot back, his tone perfectly calibrated to aggravate.

"Fine. When they tear you to pieces, don't come crying to me."

"Don't worry. Even if you drop dead, I'll still be standing."
