Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1323

Sarah Creed was used to the simple life in the country. She had complained to Mira several times, "Rachel spends way too much money. We're having steak and expensive seafood every single day. How much is all this food costing you?"

Mira would just smile and comfort her. "Mom, let her spend it. We're the ones eating it, anyway.

"You don't need to worry about money anymore. I make more than enough now, and it's time we upgraded our lifestyle.

"You and Dad survived on basic rations in the country for years. Now that I'm earning a real income, we should eat well and take care of our health."

"But your dad makes three thousand dollars a month now. Is that not even enough to cover our groceries?"

Sarah was still having a hard time letting go of her frugal habits.

"Dad only works because he enjoys it and it keeps him active. We aren't relying on his paycheck to survive."

After a few more conversations like this, Sarah finally started to adjust.

This had been one of Mira's main reasons for hiring Rachel in the first place. If she had let her foster mother keep doing all the cooking, their standard of living would have never improved.

However, Sarah was a hard worker who couldn't stand sitting idle. Whenever Rachel was in the kitchen, Sarah would tag along to help out, and within a few days, she became entirely obsessed with culinary arts.

Mira glanced at the dining table. "Roasted salmon! That looks amazing. The presentation is making my mouth water. I'll wash my hands and be right there."

Receiving such high praise from her daughter made Sarah beam with pride, fueling her passion for cooking even more.

According to Rachel, Sarah was constantly bragging about how wonderful her daughter was, which always warmed Mira's heart.

After washing her hands, Mira picked up her silverware and took a bite. "Mmm, this is incredible. Mom, since when did your cooking get this good?"

She knew that beginners always needed positive reinforcement.
