"You coward! A massive guy like you getting punted by a little girl—aren't you embarrassed?
Why don't you get up instead of playing dead like some cheap scammer?"
Caught under the crowd's judging glares, the man was frozen, unsure whether to stay down or get up.
He shot a panicked look at his supposed mediator, but the crowd caught the exchange. "Look at them making eyes at each other. They've got to be working together!"
A sharp-eyed onlooker pointed out.
"You're right, I saw it too."
"So they really are scammers trying to extort this poor girl. Despicable!"
"No wonder she was so confident about calling the police while they were terrified."
One of the bystanders even kicked the man. "You fraud, a grown man pretending to be hurt on the floor—have you no shame?"
The man was speechless.
He shot another desperate look at his accomplice.
"Look! Everyone look! They're signaling each other again."
"Scammers! Absolutely shameless!"
The crowd erupted in righteous fury, and someone even chucked a handful of lettuce at them.
Right on cue, the police arrived. "Who called this in?"
Ryan raised his hand. "I did."
Mira handed her recording over to the police, pointing at the culprits. "They aren't just simple scammers. I suspect they're traffickers or part of a syndicate."
Seeing the escalating situation, the final accomplice slowly backed away, hoping to slip out unnoticed.
"Grab him! He's with them!"
Mira pointed squarely at the man.
"No, I didn't know what was going on! I just stepped in to mediate."
