"The second Mira walked through those doors, she turned this household upside down. Is that not enough of a problem for you?"
Adrian spat bitterly.
In her past life, she was blamed for every ounce of family drama. It seemed that even in this new timeline, she was still the designated scapegoat.
*Fine,* Mira thought coldly. *If you've already painted me as the villain, then I'll make sure to give you a real nightmare.*
At the very least, the explosive argument finally died down. The two brothers carried the mountain of shopping bags upstairs for Mira.
Stacking premium boutique boxes—all boasting luxury designer labels—the brothers made several trips up the stairs. Watching the endless parade of wealth, Mara's eyes nearly popped out of her head with jealousy.
Lacey glanced at Ethan. "Exactly how much money did you spend on Mira today?"
"Five million dollars. Are you offering to reimburse me?"
Adrian's jaw practically unhinged. "Five million just on clothes?! Why don't you just hand the entire company over to your sister?!"
Ethan masterfully ignored the sarcasm. "Ah, I was actually planning on doing just that. If you're on board with the idea, I can call the lawyers over right now to draft the transfer."
Adrian was so furious he was literally speechless. Lacey glared at Ethan. "Give the entire company to Mira? Are you trying to starve the rest of us on the streets?"
"Mira was missing for seventeen years. We didn't lift a single finger for her. Giving her everything now is the least we can do, isn't it?
If anyone ends up starving on the streets, that just proves how incompetent they are."
He turned his attention to Julian. "If you lost the Mercer safety net, would you end up begging for scraps?"
"Not a chance."
As an internationally recognized professional racer, his endorsement deals alone brought in millions.
Ethan nodded approvingly. "Since Julian wouldn't go hungry, I certainly wouldn't either. I could support myself doing practically anything.
Are you telling me that a perfectly capable couple like you two couldn't even manage to feed yourselves?"
He gave Adrian and Lacey a look of exaggerated confusion.
"Just shut your mouth."
