Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1279

She planned to transfer him to Melvion Central High School and ensure he got into an elite university.

By the time the three siblings arrived back at the Mercer residence, Adrian had returned. He didn't spare Mira a single glance, locking a furious glare entirely on Ethan. "Get the hell out."

Ethan let out a dry chuckle. "Are you sure you want me to leave?"

Having Mira back by his side gave him an undeniable surge of confidence.

Adrian froze for a second before slamming his hand hard against the coffee table. "Think you've grown wings now, huh? Get the hell out of my house, right now!"

"I'll ask you again. Are you absolutely certain you want to sever ties with me?"

Ethan wasn't just talking about leaving the house; he was threatening to leave the family entirely.

"Fine by me! You think this family can't survive without you? Get out!"

"Perfect."

Ethan sat casually on the sofa, pulled out his phone, and dialed his lawyer. "Draft an official severance agreement and bring it here immediately."

Now that his sister was finally home, he wasn't the least bit afraid of walking away from the family business. As for the Mercer Group, he could send their stock plunging to rock bottom in minutes if he wanted to.

Just then, Lacey lunged forward and snatched the phone from Ethan's hand. "What are you doing?! Your father yells at you once, and you want to completely sever ties with the family?!"

Ethan didn't bother struggling, simply letting her take the device.

In truth, it was too early to abandon the company. Given a little more time, he planned to seize total control of the conglomerate. Severing ties and destroying the family business was the nuclear option.

After all, the Mercer Group was built on the blood and sweat of multiple generations; it didn't belong solely to Adrian.

"Adrian, you need to stop this! Can't we talk this out rationally? Why must you scream the moment the kids walk through the door?"

Ethan was a crucial pillar of Lacey's security. She might have been easily manipulated, but she wasn't a complete idiot.
