"I'm glad everything is running smoothly," Mira interjected.
She had delegated the overseas expansion entirely to James and Jude Vance, and simply hadn't found the time to inspect things in person. However, given James's track record and the oversight provided by Jordan's intelligence network, she knew the operations were secure.
Mira had already begun funneling elite tech talent into Jordan's covert team. An intelligence agency had to stay on the cutting edge, or risk becoming completely obsolete.
"The reason I'm calling today is about the market. I heard a syndicate is aggressively buying up Mavarian currency. Are you aware of this?"
"I am."
"How many global consortiums are involved?"
"A lot. More than ten times the number that hit the southern markets."
Ten times? Over a dozen hedge funds had participated in that regional bloodbath. Did that mean there were upwards of two hundred entities aligning against Mavaria?
"How could there possibly be that many institutional players coordinating at once?"
Despite her monumental success, there were still gaps in Mira's experience. She had built her empire at lightning speed while balancing her studies, relying heavily on proxy executives. The intricate, shadowy depths of international high finance were still largely uncharted territory for her.
"Are there really that many heavyweights out there?"
"Of course. There are nearly two hundred countries in the world. Even the struggling economies have one or two major financial conglomerates. The developed nations boast several massive powerhouses each. You're still quite young, Miss Mercer. The financial world is vast."
"Thank you for the perspective, James. Tell me, did you buy into the Mavarian Dollar?"
Mira couldn't bring herself to demand why he hadn't tipped her off earlier. James was a strategic partner and an ally, not her subordinate. He had no obligation to report every market whisper to her.
