Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1220

She turned to Mira, her expression fierce. "Mira, I know you have deep pockets. Keep only what you need to keep the lights on at your companies, and liquidate the rest. We can turn a blind eye to others, but when our homeland needs us, we answer the call."

Eleanor's unwavering resolve caught Mira off guard. She hadn't expected her grandmother to be so fiercely patriotic.

"Aren't you worried I might go bankrupt?"

Eleanor shot her a sidelong glance. "You won't go bankrupt. Didn't I just say to leave enough working capital?"

"But what if the worst happens? The global economic climate is unstable, and I'm running a multinational conglomerate. If something goes wrong, I won't have any safety net left." Mira was playing devil's advocate, curious to see just how deep Eleanor's loyalty to the country ran.

"Oh, please! If you go bankrupt, you go bankrupt. How old are you? Barely twenty-one. Most kids your age haven't even graduated college yet, let alone built an empire."

Eleanor paused, tapping her chin thoughtfully. "It's only been, what, three years since you started your first business? Even if you lose it all, give it another three years, and you'll build another global conglomerate from scratch."

Mira let out a wry chuckle. "Grandma, you have way too much faith in me."

Only Mira truly understood the grueling hours, the stress, and the sheer effort it had taken to reach this point. Success in business required the perfect storm of timing, resources, and connections. Building a titan like Solflare Group in such a compressed timeframe took far more than just raw talent.

It required capitalizing on market trends and leveraging the absolute advantage of her foresight. Her relentless drive and razor-sharp intellect were only part of the equation.

Of course, this was entirely hypothetical. Mira was far too calculating to play her hand without an ace up her sleeve. She wasn't about to let the empire she bled for crumble to dust.

The concept of reckless self-sacrifice didn't exist in her vocabulary. She was more than willing to fight for the greater good, but only if she could secure her own survival first.
