Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1203

Master Ellis expressed his outrage.

Rachel chimed in, pointing out that his relatives were simply too accustomed to a life of luxury. "In today's world, as long as you're willing to put in a little effort, you won't starve," she said.

Master Ellis agreed. "Even a mountain of wealth can't last a decade if you spend it recklessly."

"Exactly," Rachel continued. "Take Elara Finn's father, for instance. He has a physical disability, yet Elara manages to work and study at the same time. Between the two of them, they make ends meet, and she’s even attending college.

That woman is only in her forties—how can she be incapable of working? Her son is in his twenties, able-bodied and healthy. Why can't they support themselves?"

"That's exactly why you shouldn't intervene."

Master Ellis told Mira Mercer and Owen Lance. "Don't give them a single cent. They're just lazy and entitled.

Dreaming of living like high-society elites? Let them dream."

Rachel's words struck a chord with Mira. She realized that in modern society, anyone capable of working could earn a living.

Initially, she had considered offering some financial support since the young man was Master Ellis's biological son, Julian. Now, she decided to follow her mentor's advice and cut off all assistance.

Three days later, right on the heels of the highly successful Aegis OS smartphone launch, a bombshell rocked Aethelgard: Lawrence Lance had been sentenced to death.

The devastating news caused Seraphina Quinn to collapse instantly.

Upon hearing the update, Miles Quinn immediately summoned an ambulance and rushed his sister to the hospital. Despite everything, she was his family.

After her classes wrapped up, Mira received a call from Miles before she even reached home. "Seraphina went into premature labor and delivered a baby boy a month early."

"Don't tell Eleanor," Mira instructed firmly.

"I bought off the caregiver looking after Jocelyn. He's whispering in her ear every day, making sure they keep tearing each other apart."

Across the city, Miles arranged for Gwen Quinn's release from the psychiatric hospital so she could care for Seraphina.

Despite her flaws, Gwen was his mother, and she had always treated him well. With Lawrence dead, there was no longer any need to keep her locked away.

When the doctors told Gwen she was being discharged, she was ecstatic.

Being a perfectly sane person trapped in a psychiatric facility was a living nightmare, far worse than prison. She didn't want to spend another second in that place.

On the drive back, Gwen questioned the chauffeur. "How are things at the estate? Did anything happen while I was gone?"

She was determined to use this opportunity to help her daughter and son-in-law. If Miles dared to cut off her funding, she would make his life a living hell.
