"No, he wouldn't. He's the heir to an ancient intelligence network with strict codes of conduct. You don't have to worry about that.
The businessman's disappearance wasn't his doing.
I was busy back then, so I didn't dig into the details. From what I heard, the man had made some dangerous enemies and hired Master Ellis's team for high-end protection. The contract was for a month.
A month passed, and no assassins showed up. So, the man only wanted to pay twenty percent of the fee, claiming the bodyguards hadn't actually fought anyone off.
That clearly broke the rules of the trade, but he did it anyway.
The reality was that the assassins only backed off because they knew Jordan's team was protecting him.
He shortchanged the men, so Jordan simply announced that his team was no longer responsible for the man's safety.
His disappearance was entirely because his enemies immediately closed in the second he lost his protection."
Mira said, "Well, it seems he couldn't care less about that mother and son anymore. He just told them to get lost. He didn't want to retaliate."
Jax scoffed. "She only dared to return because she banked on his apathy. She probably couldn't survive abroad anymore, or she wouldn't risk it.
They stole a fortune, but without a steady income and living recklessly, it wouldn't last a lifetime.
They saw his empire expanding and wanted to use the kid to leech off his success."
"Do you think the son is really his?"
Mira asked.
"That woman is an absolute fool. Why couldn't she just live a good life with him? She was incredibly short-sighted, resorting to such despicable schemes. And now that she's hit rock bottom, she comes crawling back?"
Eleanor was thoroughly convinced that the woman had run out of options overseas.
"Alright, Mira, it's late. Go to sleep."
"You too, Grandma Eleanor. Remember what I said—stay safe."
The next morning, as Mira and Owen were leaving the residential compound for the office, Richard and Jocelyn blocked their path again, flanked by a crowd of people.
Owen ignored them, signaling the security guards to clear the way so he could drive through. After the previous incident, the couple's reputation was in the gutters. Public opinion was no longer on their side, so Owen had zero reservations.
