Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1156

Owen swiped on his phone again, bringing up the asset transfer agreement, and held it out for the reporters to see.

"Owen, if Lawrence gets the death penalty, Jocelyn and I won't be able to live with ourselves!"

They wouldn't be able to live with themselves? Then go ahead and die. It would save me the trouble. Were they seriously trying to threaten him with that?

A dark, mocking amusement flickered in Owen's eyes. "When my mother was murdered by Jocelyn, I didn't see you threatening to end your life over it.

If you hadn't been sleeping around, if you two hadn't been a pair of scheming adulterers, my mother wouldn't have met such a tragic end."

The underlying message was crystal clear: You want me to save the bastard child you two created? Keep dreaming. Letting you breathe the same air as me is the greatest mercy you'll ever get.

But as a public figure, Owen couldn't say those exact words in front of a horde of journalists.

The public didn't know the dark history of their family, and twisting his words would only start vicious rumors.

Even so, what Owen had just revealed was explosive enough.

The reporters and the eager crowd stood frozen in shock. Did they hear that right? Was there an insane scandal buried deep within the Lance family?

Once the shock wore off, the journalists immediately surged forward with a barrage of questions.

"Mr. Lance, is what Owen just said true? Have you two truly severed ties?"

"Mr. Lance, is it true that your financial assets have already been completely divided?"

"Mr. Lance, were you really involved in multiple affairs during your youth, as Owen claimed?"

"Was Owen's biological mother really murdered by Jocelyn?"

"Did you and Jocelyn conspire to kill Grace Valerius?!"

Richard's mind went completely blank. A loud ringing echoed in his ears as his brain short-circuited.

Inside the car, Owen didn't bother stepping out again. He simply glanced at Ronan. "Call the cops."

He had already said his piece. There was no need to entertain the circus any further.

Out of nowhere, Jocelyn burst onto the scene, collapsing onto the pavement right in front of the bumper.

"Owen, no matter how terrible your father and I were, those are the sins of the older generation! We deserve to die, we deserve to be punished, we deserve our karma!"

As she sobbed, she began slamming her head violently against the asphalt. Thud, thud, thud. She was hitting the ground with brutal force; Mira could literally feel the vibrations from inside the passenger seat.

Seeing Jocelyn's hysterical display, Richard followed suit, slamming his own head against the pavement. Within seconds, both of their foreheads were split open and bleeding.

Watching from the car, Mira turned to Owen. "They're really going all out. They're trying to emotionally blackmail you in front of an audience."

Owen didn't bat an eye. "Let them. They can do whatever the hell they want."
