"Mira, this game is absolutely addictive,"
Liora Bennett said, still buzzing with adrenaline.
"Addictive or not, you need to rest. Just remember to compile all the bugs everyone encountered and send them my way."
It really was incredible. Mira Mercer felt the same. This was the first time in two years that she and Owen Lance had played a game straight for eight or nine hours.
As the two were about to head home, Soren Tate chimed in, "I have a gut feeling about this. This game is going to blow all our previous titles out of the water and stay relevant for years."
Mira smiled. "From your lips to God's ears."
In truth, Mira and Soren's teams shared the exact same interests. If the game raked in millions of dollars, everyone got a piece of the pie.
After that, the two got into their car and left.
Just as the car approached the estate gates, Mira suddenly spotted a figure lunging toward them.
"Look, it's Richard!"
Mira pointed him out to Owen. The moment the words left her mouth, Richard Lance had already thrown himself in front of the hood.
"Does he have a death wish?!"
Ronan Creed, who was behind the wheel, cursed under his breath. If he hadn't slammed on the brakes, he would have sent the man flying.
Owen rolled down the window. "What do you want?"
"Owen, can't you please help your brother?"
"No."
Owen's response was as sharp as a blade.
But Richard's sudden stunt had already drawn a crowd. Nosy onlookers swarmed the vehicle in a flash. Mira noticed several reporters among them.
He was trying to use public pressure to corner Owen. This man was truly despicable.
Left with no choice in front of the media, Owen stepped out of the car to set the record straight.
"But... but even if I liquidate everything, it won't be enough. Your brother is going to be executed."
Richard kept his head bowed, repeating the same desperate line over and over.
"Then he deserves to die. It's the price of his actions.
When your precious son killed innocent people, did you ever stop to think that they had wives and children too? That they were husbands and fathers?
Do you think their families aren't grieving?"
Still, Richard shamelessly begged, "Can you just give me a little capital? A couple of million dollars is all I need. I swear, I will never show my face in front of you again."
"I already paid out every cent of the family assets that belonged to you. Why on earth would I hand you another couple million?"
To be fair, a couple million dollars was absolute pocket change to Owen now. He regularly donated tens of millions to disaster relief without blinking.
But he wouldn't give a single dime to Richard.
