Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1141

"Honestly, my sister doesn't even need bail. Because she's pregnant, she inherently qualifies for a medical parole."

Miles replied evenly.

"Then why are your parents so desperate to throw money at a bail bond?"

"Because they want her out as fast as humanly possible."

Eleanor's face remained impassive. "Let me ask you this. Once your sister is out, what should be done? Is Lawrence someone she can entrust the rest of her life to?"

"Lawrence is absolutely not a suitable match."

Hearing Miles say this without hesitation, Eleanor quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

"If I were in her shoes, I would use this opportunity to divorce Lawrence immediately, and then I would terminate the pregnancy."

"And why terminate the pregnancy?"

Eleanor probed further.

"Setting aside genetics, Lawrence was never a good person to begin with. If she keeps this child, she'll be inextricably tied to that man for the rest of her life.

From the child's perspective, being born into a broken, scandal-ridden household guarantees a miserable existence.

Since this baby isn't coming into a stable environment, it's kinder to let it go early, giving it a chance at a better life somewhere else. It's the best outcome for everyone involved."

The deep furrow in Eleanor's brow finally smoothed out. At long last, someone in this family actually possessed a shred of common sense.

"If you understand all of this, why didn't you stop your parents from coming here?"

"I tried. My dad actually agreed with me, but my mom refused to listen. She was determined to come no matter what. My dad is weak-willed; he can never stand up to her.

And as her son, I have no real authority to stop her. I was worried she would cross a line, so I came along to keep an eye on things."

Eleanor nodded slowly. "If you were to operate without your father, could you manage the Quinn Group independently?"

"I could, but my dad would never step down."

Eleanor pressed on. "If you were given absolute control of the company, would you allow your mother to dictate your decisions?"

However, you must remember the promises you just made to me. I expect you to honor your word.

Be warned: the second you fail, the second you abuse your power or let your mother run rampant, I will reclaim the entire corporation.

I would rather donate the Quinn Group to charity than leave it to be squandered."

Her tone left absolutely no room for negotiation.

"Understood, Grandma. I won't let you down."

The truth was, Miles had been silently tolerating his parents' disastrous decisions for a very long time.

Eleanor then shifted her piercing gaze to Sebastian. "Do you have any objections to my decision?"

"Mom, if I objected, would it change your mind?"

Being stripped of his position as Chairman and forced to hand it over was a bitter pill to swallow, even if it was going to his own son.

"No."
