Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1122

That was why, to open banks internationally, Mira absolutely needed James on board. Barlow National Bank had branches in almost every major country and region worldwide.

His expertise in global banking was completely irreplaceable.

As the group prepared to leave Wall Street, James repeatedly tried to persuade Mira to make another investment, but she firmly declined.

This industry thrived on momentum. If you hit a bear market, all the skill in the world wouldn't save you.

She had no desire to be a full-time trader. She would capitalize on great opportunities when they arose, and focus on her other ventures when they didn't.

While the money in finance came fast, the mental toll was exhausting. One wrong move, and the losses came even faster.

"You were born for the financial world. It's a damn shame you're leaving Wall Street," James remarked.

"James, I'm still a student. My time is limited, and I still have classes to attend," Mira replied.

"With your skills, why bother with school? If you want, I can pull strings and get you into the top university in the Javenaire Federation."

"That will have to wait until I finish my undergraduate degree back home. I can experience an alternative education abroad when I go for my master's."

As for a doctorate, she'd cross that bridge when she got to it. If she needed it, she'd pursue it; if not, she wouldn't waste the time.

Mira figured that a dual master's degree in computer science and finance would be more than sufficient.

In the real world, practical experience easily trumped theoretical knowledge. Still, it was too early to worry about that now.

Afterward, James made good on his promise, taking Mira and the crew out to properly enjoy the city for a few days.

"Just us? You mean the people who came on this trip?" James stared at her, wide-eyed. He had never heard of a major international bank operating with such a tiny circle of shareholders.

"Exactly. At most, we might bring Jude Vance on board. But none of their shares will exceed yours. That means you'll be the largest shareholder outside of me, Owen, and Master Ellis."

James only needed a moment to think it over before nodding. "Alright. There's a Mavarian saying about not putting all your eggs in one basket. Relying solely on Barlow National Bank isn't enough. I'm in."

In reality, he only held twenty percent equity in his own bank. Barlow National Bank simply had a massive pool of shareholders, making him the majority owner.

That was what secured his position as chairman and primary decision-maker.

"Since you're joining us, James, that makes us family," Owen said. "Could you help train a batch of international financial talents for us? Or, if you know any seasoned pros ready to jump ship, bring them over."

"Are you trying to copy and paste Barlow's management model?" James asked, amused.
