Dominic mentioned that several guards sacrificed their lives."
"Ten men."
Owen added from the side as he flipped through the registry.
"Whoa, Mr. Lance got hurt," Harvey realized, finally noticing the fresh bandages on Owen's arm.
"Yeah, he took a bullet for me. Otherwise, it would've hit me right in the back,"
Mira explained.
It wouldn't have been fatal—the three of them were wearing Master Ellis's prized tactical vests, which absorbed the bulk of the impact.
But it still caused injuries.
"Your story is so romantic it almost makes me cry,"
Natalie sighed.
"Did anyone in your squad get killed in action?"
"No, just a few injuries,"
Mira replied.
"You guys are insane! Walking through a hail of bullets and not a single casualty."
"Probably just good luck."
Mira casually brushed it off.
In reality, it was mainly because Mira's team was equipped with tactical sedatives. Without that ace up her sleeve, Mira never would have set foot in the Balkan Underworld.
But the secrets of their martial lineage weren't meant to be casually revealed to outsiders.
By then, Owen had located Sienna's name in the registry, and Mira finally let out a sigh of relief.
"As long as she's among the rescued."
Even though they had only met once and weren't exactly close, she was still a fellow citizen, and Mira genuinely hoped Sienna could get a fresh start.
Not to mention, she was doing this for Celine Ward.
After confirming the location, Mira and Natalie headed off to see Sienna and her mother. Owen and the bodyguards stayed behind to help Harvey.
Harvey was currently preparing to distribute clothing to the victims. When they were rescued, most of them had barely any clothes on; some were completely naked, while only a small handful wore hospital gowns.
"Who are you looking for?"
"Is there a victim named Sienna Stanford in this room?"
Natalie asked.
"Sienna? Who's Sienna?"
Daisy called out into the room, but it was dead silent. No one answered.
Mira and Natalie pushed the door wider and saw all the women huddled in the corners, some trembling violently.
"What's wrong with them?"
Natalie asked, confused.
Mira thought for a second. "It's a trauma response to strangers. They've been terrorized for too long."
Mira had specifically chosen to wear a light blue denim outfit today, keeping the victims in mind.
Blue was a soothing color, meant to put people at ease.
