That afternoon, Winona Jowett was busy finalizing a proposal.
Suddenly, Mr. Harper's assistant ran out of his office, yelling, "Mr. Harper fainted! Killian, Jude, quickly! Help get him to the hospital!"
Killian moved fast. He rushed into the office, hoisted Jericho onto his back, and hurried out.
Winona and the others frantically followed.
After a series of tests, the doctor addressed them: "The patient suffered myocardial ischemia triggered by severe exhaustion, accompanied by paroxysmal arrhythmia. He must be admitted immediately for a 24-hour holter monitor. During his stay, he requires strict bed rest to prevent his condition from deteriorating."
Winona looked at Jericho, worry etched on her face.
In their lab, he was the busiest of them all. Not only was he doing R&D, but he was also leading the team and coordinating both internal and external resources.
With long-term, high-intensity work and barely any proper rest, it was no wonder his body had finally given out.
The assistant called Jericho's family to come and take care of him.
That night, Jericho woke up. Seeing everyone gathered around, he grumbled, "What are you all doing here? The lab has so much work, is it just going to do itself?"
Killian spoke up with concern, "You fainted, Mr. Harper. We were so worried, we didn't dare leave."
Jericho had always put his work first. He wanted to negotiate with the doctor to be discharged the next day, but his family's persistent objections—combined with the undeniable reality that his body was failing him—forced him to drop the idea.
After delegating the workload, he announced to the group, "While I'm hospitalized, Killian and Winona will jointly handle the overall management of the lab."
Everyone readily agreed.
Except for Eloise, who was incredibly resentful.
Winona had barely been here for any time at all, and now she was on equal footing with Killian?
She was convinced Winona was constantly kissing up to Jericho, which was why he valued her so highly.
Because of this, Eloise started visiting the hospital every day after work.
Jericho ruthlessly called out her ulterior motives, telling her to focus on her work and stop scheming.
Embarrassed, Eloise didn't dare show her face at the hospital to kiss up again.
On Saturday morning, Winona visited Mr. Harper to check on him and give a quick work report.
Sylvan Scully, Giselle Reed, and Dean Ziegler were already in the room.
