The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 369

With it all laid out so clearly, the truth finally crushed through Nikita's denial.

She closed her eyes, and her first thought wasn't about the deception, but about how much Winona and Greta had suffered.

Tears streamed uncontrollably down her weathered face.

She had been forcing Winona to reconcile with the man who had done this to her. Winona must have been in sheer agony.

Looking as if she had aged a decade in a matter of seconds, Nikita slumped forward, utterly bewildered. "How can people be this evil?"

Helena's ex had been a piece of work. But this man? He was an absolute monster.

Was it a curse? Were the good women in this family doomed to meet terrible men?

Winona gently squeezed her hand. "Grandma, we're moving out. I can easily cover Greta's tuition. We do not need Yulen for anything."

Defeated but resolute, Nikita agreed to pack up and leave with her.

When Helena came home from work that evening and found her mother there, she was taken aback.

Nikita tearfully explained everything Yulen had done, her eyes burning with pure hatred.

"How could he be so disgusting? I trusted him with everything!"

Helena put a comforting hand on her mother's shoulder. "Winona is young, and she's a hell of a lot tougher than most. She'll get through this. Plus, she's brilliant and beautiful—she has the whole world ahead of her. Mom, a breakup isn't the end of a person's life. You need to let this go."

Nikita still felt a heavy, suffocating block in her chest.

"All I ever wanted was for you and Winona to be happily married. It's my responsibility as a mother. It's my most important purpose in life, and now I'm probably going to die before I ever see it happen."

Helena sighed softly. "You raised us well. You've more than fulfilled your responsibilities. And Mom, there's no rule that says forcing your kids down the aisle is your life's mission. It's time to let that mindset go."

Nikita still looked deeply depressed, but her stubborn insistence that Winona and Yulen belong together was completely obliterated.

He had turned her granddaughter into the 'other woman' without her even knowing it!

Honestly, Helena's ex-husband was practically a saint by comparison! At least he had actually married her!

She was absolutely livid.

Yulen returned from his business trip a week later.

Walking into the villa he had shared with Winona, he found the place eerily empty. He found the housekeeper and frowned. "Where are Winona and her grandmother?"

With Winona gone, he had no desire to stay at the empty villa, so he headed straight to Tallulah's place.

Tallulah's face lit up the second he walked through the door. "Yulen! You're back! Why didn't you text me? I would have had dinner ready for you."

Seeing her gentle, doting demeanor completely soothed the sharp sting to his ego Winona had just dealt him.

He wrapped an arm around her waist, resting his hand softly on her stomach. "Don't worry about it, I'm not hungry. Let me feel... is my son giving you trouble?"

Tallulah laughed softly. "He's been so hyper lately. Constant kicking." She looked up at him with wide, hopeful eyes. "By the way, I'm going to start checking in on the new project at the company. If I can get it running smoothly, you have to promise me one thing."

"Name it."

"When the baby comes, I want you to take a month of paternity leave to just be with us."

"That's easy," he replied without missing a beat. "He's my first son. Of course I'm taking time off to be with you two."

Hearing his promise, Tallulah's smile grew sickeningly sweet.

Winona was invited to Jericho Harper's home for dinner.
