The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 322

Seeing that Winona had finished drinking, Stefan casually took the bottle from her hands. "It's heavy. Let me put it in my pack."

Roxana, feeling like the ultimate third wheel, couldn't help but chime in. "My water bottle is heavy too. Can I put it in your pack?"

Stefan didn't even blink. "Your physical last month showed multiple red flags. The doctor said you need more exercise. Carry it yourself."

Roxana stared at him, utterly speechless.

Standing a short distance away, Maeve watched Stefan treat Winona with such effortless tenderness. Seething, she threw her own backpack onto the ground in a fit of rage. She wanted to march right up to them, but Stefan's bodyguards were watching her like hawks, making it impossible to get close.

Gritting her teeth, she refused to give up.

Fog rolled in over the mountain trails as the trio hiked for another two hours, finally reaching the summit. Roxana immediately pulled out her camera to capture the view.

Just then, Stefan's phone buzzed. It was a text from Maeve. He glanced at the screen, his brow furrowing in irritation.

"What is it?" Roxana asked, leaning in to read the message. A mocking laugh escaped her. "Bitten by a snake? If she's going to lie, she could at least try to make it believable. With a toxic personality like hers, even a venomous snake would take one look and slither the other way."

Stefan ignored the text, instead calling the bodyguards stationed further down the mountain, ordering them to locate her.

"Why do you even care?" Roxana grumbled. "She obviously brought her own security. She's just sending that to guilt-trip you into going back for her."

Before Stefan could answer, his mother called.

"Stefan, are you still at Sunset Ridge?" Margaret demanded. "Maeve's ankle was bitten by a snake. She can't walk. You need to go find her right now."

"I already sent the bodyguards," he replied coldly.

"What good are bodyguards?! Her father literally saved your life! You cannot just abandon her."

"Understood," he said flatly, ending the call.

Seeing that a bodyguard was about to pick her up, Maeve recoiled. "No! I want you to carry me. I'm not letting some random guy touch me."

Stefan stared at her, his eyes dead. "Then die here."

Maeve recoiled, shocked by the sheer ice in his voice. She shot a venomous glare at Winona. This was all her fault. If Winona hadn't shown up, Stefan would never treat her this way.

Margaret's name flashed on Stefan's phone again, demanding he personally escort Maeve to the hospital and ensure she was taken care of.

"I'll go with her to the hospital," Roxana volunteered quickly. "You take Winona home."

Neither Stefan nor Winona liked that idea. Who knew what a desperate Maeve might try to pull with Roxana alone?

Ultimately, they decided to all go together.

Carried on the bodyguard's back, Maeve trailed behind the group. Watching Stefan walk shoulder-to-shoulder with Winona, a dark, vicious light flickered in her eyes.
