The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 198

Investor Husband, Warrior Wife

HANNAH’S POV:

“No,” i admitted. “But I’m doing it anyway.”

“Why?”

I sat up, pulling my feet away so I could turn to face him properly. “Because whoever did this wanted me to give up. They wanted to break me. And if I wait, if I take my time and play it safe, they win. They get to see me defeated.

“So this is about revenge.”

“This is about justice. And yes, maybe a little revenge. Is that so wrong?”

Elijah reached for my hands, holding them gently. “No. It’s human. Just promise me you won’t destroy yourself trying to prove a point.”

“I promise I’ll try not to.”

“Hannah.”

“Elijah,” I countered, squeezing his hands. “I need this. I need to prove to myself that I can do this. That one fire doesn’t erase everything I’ve built.”

He was quiet for a moment, then he smiled. Not worried or fearful but it was one of pride.

“Then let’s build an empire in thirty days,” he said simply.

I felt my breath catch. “You mean it?”

“Completely. You want to do this in a month? Fine. We’ll make it happen. I’ll free up my schedule. Lucas is already on board, I’m sure. We’ll get your entire team mobilized. Whatever you need, however crazy it sounds, we’ll figure it out.”

“It’s going to be chaos.”

“Good thing I thrive in chaos.”

I launched myself at him, wrapping my arms around his neck. “Thank you. Thank you for believing in me even when I’m being crazy.”

“Already on it. I have three properties lined up for you to look at tomorrow afternoon.”

I stopped pacing and stared at him. “You do?”

“I told you I’ve been preparing. I wasn’t going to let you sit in limbo while we waited for insurance and permits.”

God, this man. “What did I do to deserve you?”

“You existed,” he said simply. “That was enough.”

We worked late into the night, planning and strategizing. By the time we finally collapsed into bed, I had a rough timeline, a task list that would make most people faint, and a renewed sense of purpose.

And in that moment, standing in the wreckage of something burned down too soon, I knew one thing with absolute certainty, They tried to break me.

Instead, they lit the fire that would make me unstoppable.
