The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 197

HANNAH’S POV:

“They’re checking security footage from surrounding buildings. Looking into anyone who might have had access or knowledge of the building layout. It’s slow going.”

“But they’ll find them.”

“They have to,” I said. “Because if they don’t, I will.”

Cherry’s eyes widened slightly. “Hannah…”

“I’m not going to do anything crazy,” I assured her. “But I’m not sitting around waiting either. Lucas has already hired a private investigator. Elijah’s lawyer is looking into legal angles. We’re covering all bases.”

Cherry reached across the table and squeezed my hand. “We’ll find them.”

“I know. I know…and whoever did this must pay.” I told her clenching my jaw and she smiled holding my hand in comfort.

“They will. Karma’s real. And you’ve got an army ready to make sure justice happens.”

Soon the conversation turned lighter about her cravings and how she had been wanting a lot of sex and I laughed because Cherry was way too amusing.

“I’m serious!” she insisted, her face flushing. “Jacob doesn’t know what to do with me. Yesterday I jumped him in the kitchen while he was making breakfast.”

“Cherry!” I gasped, laughing.

“The hormones are real, Hannah. They don’t tell you about this part in the pregnancy books.”

“Maybe they should. Call it Chapter Twelve: The Horny Trimester.”

She nearly spit out her drink. “Oh my God, don’t make me laugh. I’ll pee myself. That’s another thing they don’t tell you. Bladder control becomes a suggestion, not a guarantee.”

“Glamorous.”

“So glamorous,” she agreed. “But also worth it. I can’t wait to meet this little troublemaker.”

We were in our bedroom, me sprawled across the bed while he sat at the end, his strong hands working magic on my sore muscles. The room was dim, lit only by the soft glow of the bedside lamp.

“A month?” he asked gently.

“Yes.” I told him confidently and I was proud of myself for still remaining so confidently.

He studied me for a long moment, his hands never stopping their gentle pressure. “That’s ambitious.”

“That’s one word for it.”

“Insane is another.”

“So I’ve been told. Multiple times today, actually.”

He smiled, but I could see the concern in his eyes. “Are you sure about this?”
