The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 987

She hesitated for a split second, her heart squeezing painfully before she answered the call. "Hi, sweetie."

"Mommy, Daddy and I brought you lunch!"

Felicia froze in pure shock. When she hurried down to the lobby, she spotted Max and Anne waiting near the entrance. Max was holding a thermal lunchbox. The moment his eyes met hers, it was obvious his mood was still terrible. The fury from that morning still lingered in his gaze.

Spotting her, Anne cheered and ran over. "Mommy!" The little girl was completely oblivious to her father's dark mood.

Felicia tore her eyes away from Max and crouched down to take Anne's hands.

"Mommy, Daddy and I brought you lunch," Anne repeated happily.

Felicia gave her a tender smile. "Thank you." She stood up and looked at Max again. Likely because Anne was watching him, his expression softened considerably, instantly transforming him back into the picture perfect loving father and devoted husband. He was quite the actor.

She walked over holding Anne's hand. "Anne and I have not eaten yet," he stated.

Anne looked up at her mother expectantly. Felicia pressed her lips together. "There is a buffet place near here called The Garden Grille. The food is pretty good."

Max looked down at Anne. "Do you want to get lunch there, sweetie?"

Anne nodded eagerly. "Yes!"

This was probably the first time in his entire life Max had ever set foot in a place like this. Leading him to the buffet line, she handed him a tray and a serving spoon, which he accepted naturally. She grabbed another tray for Anne and started filling it while the little girl trailed closely behind her.

Max stood right behind Anne. With his towering height, custom clothes, and aristocratic presence, he stood out like a sore thumb. Just standing near him generated an invisible pressure. Countless eyes darted their way, the other diners unable to hide their shock and awe. The family of three looked like they belonged in a different dimension entirely from the casual, bustling cafeteria.

Once their trays were full, Felicia pulled out her phone and paid the bill. It came to exactly forty eight dollars.

"Take these to the table," Felicia said, handing him Anne's tray. Max took it without a word. She watched him walk away. From start to finish, he had handled the unfamiliar environment surprisingly well. She went to grab some bread and utensils, placing them in front of Max and Anne.

Just then, her phone buzzed in her pocket. It was Jeremy calling.
