It was not until the third day that Jeremy brought Felicia back to the Capital. Luke, Greg, Heather, Savannah, and Anthony were all waiting outside the airport. The moment the pair emerged from the arrivals gate, Heather and Savannah rushed forward.
"Felicia," they called out in unison.
Felicia remained silent. Her gaze was unfocused, and she barely registered their presence, offering only a faint nod in response. Seeing her in such a catatonic state made everyone's hearts clench. No one knew what to say or do, and a heavy, oppressive gloom settled over the group.
The suffocating silence lingered until Jeremy finally spoke up. "Let's head outside first."
Once they left the airport, Heather and Savannah accompanied Felicia in Greg's car. Jeremy got into Anthony's vehicle, where Luke was already seated. As Jeremy gave them a brief rundown of the situation, Luke listened in brooding silence.
"Is Max really..." Anthony trailed off. He found it hard to believe that a man as formidable as Max could meet such a sudden, tragic end. There was no gloating in his voice, only a profound sense of disbelief and sorrow.
Jeremy sighed deeply. "It is entirely up to fate now." He then turned his attention to Luke. "How is Anne doing?"
Snapping out of his daze, Luke shook his head. "I am not entirely sure. The family definitely will not tell her the truth, so they are keeping it a secret for now."
Felicia's current condition made it impossible for her to be there for Anne, and the Hawthorne family would undoubtedly block any contact between the two. But with Anne unable to reach either of her parents, the secret could not be kept forever. Luke dreaded to think how the little girl would react when the truth finally came out.
The convoy made its way straight to the Ross family residence, where Ava and Colton were anxiously waiting. The moment Felicia walked through the door, Ava hurried over.
"Felicia..." Ava started.
Greg quickly stepped in to intercept her. "Mom, let Felicia go up to her room and rest first."
Noticing the vacant look in Felicia's eyes, Ava's heart twisted painfully. She hastily swallowed her distress and nodded. "Of course."
Heather gave a slow, reluctant nod, and the group gradually dispersed from the Ross estate.
Luke returned to Hawthorne Manor, while Jeremy made his way to the Gilbert family.
A dark cloud of uncertainty hovered over the Hawthorne family. Although they were trying their best to keep Max's disappearance under wraps, secrets of that magnitude rarely stayed hidden for long. It felt as if the entire elite circle of the Capital had their eyes fixed on the Hawthornes.
Inside BlueMarble Investments, panic was brewing. Every employee was on edge, and the core executives were losing sleep night after night. The stress proved too much for Tatiana, who had to be admitted to the hospital. Miranda and Brandon were barely holding it together.
Fortunately, the Gilbert family stepped in to help maintain order, ensuring that rival factions did not dare to make a move. Even Daniel refrained from stirring up trouble during this vulnerable period, knowing he had to protect the overall interests of the Hawthorne family.
In the blink of an eye, another week passed without a single word about Max. Felicia had not stepped outside the house once. Ava cooked every day, rotating through Felicia's favorite recipes to ensure she ate. Surprisingly, Felicia did not lose her appetite as everyone feared. She ate her meals on time, went to bed on time, and woke up on time. The rest of her day was spent locked in the study, reading books in absolute silence. She repeated this exact routine day after day.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
