The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 929
Max hung up the phone and looked at Felicia. "Let's go. I will take you home first."
His words surprised Felicia. She had thought he would find some way to make her go with him. Just as she withdrew her gaze, he spoke again. "Do you want to come?"
Felicia stepped forward. "You had better just take me home."
Max strode after her and reached out to grasp her hand.
Half an hour later, they returned to the apartment. The butler had already arranged all their purchases neatly in the living room. Max went straight to the walk-in closet to change. By the time he had dressed and the staff had styled his hair, nearly forty minutes had passed.
Felicia waited in the living room. When the man emerged, he was the very picture of a corporate elite. Only his tie remained undone, draped casually over his hand.
Max looked at her. "Come here."
Felicia paused for a few seconds before walking over. She stopped right in front of him, took the tie from his hand, and reached up to loop it around his neck.
Max gazed down at the woman before him. His handsome face was gentle as he offered a soft reminder. "Do not tie it too tight this time."
Felicia paused at his words. She looked up, meeting his deep, mesmerizing dark eyes. "Thank you for the reminder."
Max raised an eyebrow.
On the final pull, Felicia deliberately yanked the silk knot tight. Just as she was about to pull her hands back, Max caught her wrists. His other arm wrapped firmly around her waist, and with a slight tug, he pressed her flush against his chest. His overwhelming, masculine scent descended upon her, carrying a fierce, radiating heat.
The man strode purposefully toward the door. Felicia stood frozen in place, watching his retreating back until the heavy thud of the door echoed through the apartment. Only then did she slowly look away.
Dinner was soon ready, and Felicia ate her meal alone. For some inexplicable reason, she suffered from insomnia that night and barely slept.
When she woke up the next morning, Felicia reached for the phone on her nightstand. There were no new messages. She placed the device back down and threw off the covers to get out of bed.
After breakfast, the staff finished packing her luggage. Max had arranged a one o'clock flight for her that afternoon. By eleven o'clock, the driver was already waiting downstairs. The butler rolled her suitcases out and escorted her down. He waited until she was safely in the car, watching as the vehicle pulled away.
After the car had driven for some distance, Felicia watched the city streets blur past the window. She pulled her phone from her bag, opened her contacts, and dialed Max's number. The line rang endlessly until it automatically disconnected.
Felicia lowered the phone, her brow furrowed as she stared at the screen. She immediately called again, but it remained unanswered. In that split second, her breathing grew heavy.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
