Max poured the red wine into a decanter, then filled two crystal glasses. The rich aroma of the vintage immediately filled the air. He handed one of the glasses to Felicia. She reached out to take it, swirling the dark liquid gently before tipping her head back for a small, testing sip.
"How is it?" Max asked.
"It is fine," Felicia replied softly.
Max picked up his own glass and raised it in a silent toast. The bright crystal chandelier reflected in the depths of his eyes, stripping away his usual unfathomable darkness. Felicia watched him for a moment before raising her hand to clink her glass against his.
They finished their first glass in complete silence. Then came the second. They kept drinking until the entire bottle was empty, a faint flush creeping up Felicia's cheeks and a glazed haze settling over her beautiful eyes. She set her empty glass down and rose to walk over to the window, seeking a breath of fresh air.
The dazzling neon lights of the city skyline stretched out before her. An afternoon rain shower had left the night breeze carrying a damp, lingering chill that drifted through the open crack of the window. Felicia stared quietly into the luminous darkness, letting the cool wind kiss her face and gently lift the strands of her hair.
Max stepped up beside her. He looked out at the distant horizon and asked, "What are you thinking about?"
Felicia took a deep breath. "You must have known about the relationship between Darin and me a long time ago."
Max did not deny it. "Yes."
"Exactly how long ago?" she pressed.
Max fell silent for a brief moment before answering. "Before you went abroad, Darin asked me to look into the whereabouts of you and your father."
Hearing this, Felicia froze. A short laugh escaped her lips, but the sound was laced with a profound, desolate sorrow. "So you knew even back then."
Max offered no reply, only watching her in heavy silence.
With that said, she took a deep, shuddering breath and turned to walk away.
Instantly, a strong grip clamped around her wrist. In the next second, she was pulled backward, crashing directly into the broad, solid expanse of his chest. Felicia pushed against him, fighting desperately to break his hold.
Max wrapped his arms tightly around her. "If you want to cry, just cry."
Felicia struggled for another moment. She tried with all her might to hold it back, but ultimately, she could not control the flood of emotions. Her hands clenched tightly onto the fabric of his dress shirt as the spacious living room echoed with her muffled, heartbreaking sobs.
It was the sorrow of countless agonizing, sleepless nights, only to end up exactly where she started, unable to break free from her invisible chains. It was the trauma of being hurt by the very people who should have loved her most. More than anything, it was the crushing reality that she could never let Anne suffer the same fate she had.
Max simply held her, letting her pour out every ounce of her grief. He stood there holding her, unaware of how much time had passed.

Take her back? Want to see her?? Donno about Felicia but I think I’m falling for this Max somehow🫠🙈pls update daily...
I knew it! Hopefully Felicia's health will improve and will want to have the baby. Oh how I despise Max's family....
Please post *I forgot I ever loved you*...
Is this coming to an end...
Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
