Whenever Max wanted to send Felicia a message, he simply tagged her directly in the group chat. If she failed to reply, Anne would helpfully repeat the message for him. Anne had essentially adopted Max's exact strategy, turning to the group chat whenever she missed her mother.
One afternoon, Max and Darin were deep into a business call discussing corporate matters when Anne suddenly initiated a video call. Max answered it immediately.
"Daddy," Anne's sweet voice chimed through the speaker.
Max's gaze softened instantly as he looked at his daughter on the screen.
Hearing the child's voice on the other end, Darin spoke up. "I will leave you to it, then. I do not want to interrupt."
"It is fine," Max replied smoothly. "Keep talking."
"Daddy, who are you talking to on the phone?" Anne asked curiously.
"Uncle Darin," Max said, deliberately emphasizing the title so it echoed loudly through the line.
That made Darin frown in deep annoyance.
Anne simply let out a small note of understanding. Right at that exact moment, Felicia joined the video call.
"Mommy!" Anne cheered happily.
Max immediately spoke into his other phone. "I am hanging up now."
Listening to the dead tone buzzing in his ear, Darin let out a sharp, incredulous laugh. He could vividly imagine the smug, triumphant look plastered across Max's face. The man's vindictiveness was truly on another level.
By Wednesday evening, Jeremy and Savannah finally arrived in Cloudville. Felicia went to meet them outside the corporate building.
"Felicia!" Savannah called out, hurrying over to pull her friend into a tight hug. "Are you getting used to being all alone out here?"
"I am perfectly used to it," Felicia smiled, returning the hug.
Right on cue, Darin arrived. "Mr. Milman."
Jeremy turned slightly to acknowledge him, and the two men exchanged brief, polite greetings. Darin then walked over to Felicia and Savannah, holding out the takeout bag. "I picked these up on the way."
Felicia glanced at the bag and reached out to take a drink. Savannah stared down at the beverages Darin was offering, her fingers curling slightly before she finally took one without saying a single word. Darin merely offered a faint, polite smile.
The group eventually split up to head to the restaurant. Darin and Jeremy rode together in one car, while Felicia and Savannah followed closely behind in another.
"What are you thinking about?" Felicia asked softly, studying Savannah's face.
Although Savannah appeared perfectly calm on the surface, anyone who knew her well could easily sense her internal turbulence. Savannah offered a wry smile, looking down at the latte in her hand. She did not bother hiding her true feelings from her friend.
"I just feel like life is incredibly unpredictable," Savannah murmured.

Take her back? Want to see her?? Donno about Felicia but I think I’m falling for this Max somehow🫠🙈pls update daily...
I knew it! Hopefully Felicia's health will improve and will want to have the baby. Oh how I despise Max's family....
Please post *I forgot I ever loved you*...
Is this coming to an end...
Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
