"You okay?"
Ivy looked up to see Felicia walking in. She hurriedly tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear and replied, "Yeah."
Noticing Ivy still red ears, Felicia smiled warmly. "You were too nervous. You made it so obvious."
Ivy lowered her eyes and bit her lip, suddenly unsure of how to face Jeremy again. She had thought she could maintain her composure. After all, she and Jeremy were merely acquaintances. Yet, after spending just a short time together, she had let her feelings show so plainly. She truly did not know how she was going to face him next.
Sensing her anxiety, Felicia offered gentle comfort. "It is fine. He actually spoke quite highly of you."
Ivy darted her eyes up, locking onto Felicia.
"Do not worry, I did not tell him anything," Felicia reassured her. "Just pretend nothing happened. Keep doing what you are doing, and stop worrying about the rest. Just stay true to your own heart. No one is going to judge you, and no one is going to make things difficult for you."
Listening to Felicia words, the tight knot of tension in Ivy nerves slowly began to unwind. Jeremy was indeed someone who deeply respected others. She nodded in silent agreement.
By dinnertime, Jeremy and Ivy conversed normally, acting as if the awkward moment earlier had not occurred at all. Throughout their exchange, Ivy showed no signs of discomfort or constraint. Yet, this easy exchange only made her heart flutter all the more wildly. A man this wonderful had stayed by Felicia side for so many years, had Felicia truly never developed romantic feelings for him?
After dinner, Ivy returned to her room. A knock sounded at the door, and the butler walked in. "What is it?" Ivy asked.
"Mr. Manning is on the phone," the butler informed her. "He wishes to speak with you, Miss."
Ivy frowned in confusion. Why was Jeffery calling at this hour? She followed the butler to a study specifically designated for phone calls. Approaching the desk, she took a deep breath, picked up the receiver, and brought it to her ear. "Jeffrey."
Her brother voice came through the line. "What did you do today?"

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
