If he had not witnessed it with his own eyes, he never would have believed it. Mr. Forbes discreetly glanced at Felicia. Darin was clearly intimidated by Evelynn. The fact that Max Hawthorne's wife could keep Darin Foxhall on such a tight leash was endlessly fascinating. At the very least, it signaled that getting on Evelynn's good side might guarantee smooth negotiations with both BlueMarble and Centurion Group.
After exchanging a few pleasantries with Darin, Mr. Forbes approached Felicia with a warm smile. "Evelynn, it has been far too long. I am Mr. Forbes from Centurion Group. We’ve met previously."
Felicia stood and shook his hand gracefully. "Of course I remember you, Mr. Forbes."
Mr. Forbes beamed, deeply pleased that she recalled their introduction. After a few more minutes of polite conversation, he excused himself and headed upstairs.
Felicia sank back into the plush sofa, pulling out her phone and scrolling idly. She completely ignored Darin, treating him as if he were nothing more than empty air. Darin stood there awkwardly, reverting to his meek posture, clearly wanting to say something but terrified of sparking another outburst.
Felicia finally lifted her eyes, staring at the man standing frozen like a wooden puppet. "Are you still here? Go home."
Darin snapped out of his daze and nodded quickly. "Right, I will head back now."
Felicia lowered her gaze back to her phone.
Darin turned and walked out of the building. Once he settled into his driver's seat, he pulled out his phone and fired off a text to Max: Are you completely mute? Do you not have your own mouth?
If Max deserved to be cursed out, he needed to hear it directly.
He tossed the phone onto the passenger seat and reached for the ignition. Just as he looked up, he spotted a sleek sports car pulling to a halt diagonally across the lot. Max stepped out, dressed in a crisp white shirt and sporting tinted sunglasses that completely masked his eyes. He slipped one hand casually into his pocket and strode over with confident, sweeping steps.
Darin watched him approach with narrowed eyes. Max stopped right beside Darin's window and rapped his knuckles against the glass. Darin slowly rolled the window down, glaring at him in utter silence.
"So she actually yelled at you?" Max asked smoothly.
"You look incredibly pleased with yourself," Darin scoffed.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
