The original summit host had been slated to be one of the top anchors from Global Finance Review, someone Colt's team was heavily investing in. The anchor had previously worked under Evelynn and had since taken over her hosting duties.
Colt had discreetly checked around yesterday and found out that Max's camp had requested the swap. It was incredibly coincidental that Jeremy and Dannie's scandal erupted on the exact same day. Given the complicated web connecting them all, it was hard not to suspect that Max had done it on purpose. Evelynn and Jeremy shared a deep connection, and yet Evelynn was also Max's wife.
Colt recalled a time last year when all of them were at this very tennis club. Back then, Max and Evelynn had acted like complete strangers. No one would have ever guessed they were married. How they had suddenly ended up as husband and wife was a mystery that baffled everyone.
Colt avoided answering Mr. Forbes' question directly, offering a different guess. "Mr. Hawthorne is obviously in a foul mood today. It probably has something to do with his wife."
Noticing Colt's reluctance to elaborate, Mr. Forbes didn't press the host replacement issue. But Colt's hint was clear enough. "Are you saying he had a fight with Evelynn?" By now, everyone knew Evelynn was Max's wife, just as everyone was aware of her close ties to Jeremy.
"It is highly possible."
Mr. Forbes fell silent for a moment before deciding on a new tactic. "Colt, could you get me Evelynn's contact information?"
It was obvious how deeply Max cared for her, otherwise he wouldn't be this emotional. Securing a deal directly with Max was proving to be near impossible right now. However, if Mr. Forbes could find a way in through Max's wife, the negotiations might go much smoother.
Soon enough, the last tennis pro collapsed in exhaustion. Max was drenched in sweat, his tank top clinging to his chest. His pumped muscles practically radiated steam into the air. Seeing his chance, Mr. Forbes grabbed a bottle of water and a towel and rushed forward. "Mr. Hawthorne, why don't you take a break?"
Max tossed his battered tennis racket to a nearby staff member. He took the water from Mr. Forbes, tilted his head back, and drained the bottle in one long gulp.
In the end, not a single word regarding their business proposal was discussed. Max took a quick shower, changed his clothes, and left the country club without another word.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
