Max slowly stood up. "I actually do have matters to attend to this afternoon, so I will be leaving now."
Felicia offered no response. Max glanced at her, hesitating for a moment as if he wanted to do something, but ultimately decided against it. He turned and walked toward the door. With his hand resting on the doorknob, he suddenly paused, looked back at her, and said, "Don't forget about tomorrow."
Felicia just looked at him silently. Max opened the door, stepped out, and pulled it shut behind him.
Downstairs, he spotted the maid and asked, "Has she been feeling unwell anywhere recently?"
The maid looked surprised for a moment before answering. "Ms. Ross has been perfectly fine lately."
Hearing her response, Max asked nothing more and strode purposefully out of the house. He walked out the main gates and was just about to get into his car when he saw an Audi slowly pulling up. He stopped in his tracks, his dark eyes turning dangerously cold.
The Audi parked right behind his car. The rear door opened, and Jeremy stepped out. The moment his eyes met Max's, the atmosphere between them plummeted to a freezing point. Jeremy looked away, having zero intention of engaging with Max, and walked toward the house.
"You've been playing the devoted suitor for so long, yet she still hasn't accepted you. Should I call you deeply affectionate, or simply delusional in your own self-gratifying fantasy?" Max taunted.
Jeremy stopped and turned to look at him, his eyes completely calm behind his glasses. "It's true that I can't compete with your underhanded tactics."
"I know what you did. You had someone introduce Dannie to my parents. You really know how to package a perfect persona for the older generation," Jeremy continued smoothly.
He knew his parents had somehow been bewitched into liking Dannie immensely. Dannie's former university professor, now retired, frequently played chess with Jeremy's father in Northwick. Moreover, his mother constantly heard praises about Dannie from her social circles. Since they had met Dannie in person, the external praise perfectly matched their initial impression, deeply reinforcing their positive bias.
"Do you honestly believe that manipulating my parents into pressuring me will force me to compromise? Or do you actually think Dannie has what it takes to get close to me?" Jeremy asked.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
