That evening, Max took Felicia to the Zenith for dinner, which included a twenty-minute private fireworks show. Felicia watched the display, the colorful explosions reflecting in her eyes, yet her expression remained entirely devoid of emotion.
The man observed her soft profile and finally asked, "Do you not like it?"
Felicia withdrew her gaze and looked at the man sitting across from her. She had truly seen through to his core. When he was in a good mood and cared about her, he could shower her with endless protection and romance. But the moment his feelings shifted, he could turn on her without a second thought. No matter the situation, he always stood on an absolute pedestal of dominance. She simply could not endure that kind of emotional whiplash anymore.
The deafening sound of the fireworks came to an abrupt halt.
"It's not that I don't like it," Felicia said, her tone perfectly even. "I just think there's no point in you doing this."
Max's eyes darkened as he stared at her. "Then what do you think would have a point?"
Felicia picked up her spoon, shaking her head slightly. "Not everyone cares about these material expressions of affection. All I want is stability and peace."
"So you believe I can't give you that, is that it?" he asked.
Felicia looked down, eating a small bite of her food before meeting his gaze again. "What if I say yes?"
Max's eyes locked onto her, and the atmosphere around them seemed to drop in temperature. Felicia said nothing more. She merely offered a faint, polite smile and looked away. "I'm full..."
Before she could finish her sentence, the man across from her spoke. "We can try again."
Felicia froze, staring at him in surprise.
"You think I can't give you stability, but your own heart is just as unsteady. Why don't we both commit this time and just try?" Max proposed.
By the end of the night, Felicia had not given him an answer.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...

It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
