Dannie walked up to the side of the bed, pausing to look down at the frail, exhausted Felicia. With a tone of mock concern, she asked, "Evelynn, are you okay?"
Felicia's eyes turned glacial. "Get out."
Dannie had no intention of leaving. Maintaining her arrogant posture, she smirked. "Are you pregnant?"
"It's none of your business. I'll say it one last time. Get out."
Dannie's lips curved into a smile that didn't reach her eyes. "It must be Max's, right? Look at you, getting an IV drip all alone in a hospital, pregnant with his child, while he's off rekindling his romance with Andrea in a foreign country. Honestly, Evelynn, even with so many people trying to protect you, I think you're utterly pathetic. At the end of the day, you're just someone destined to be miserable."
Felicia didn't waste her breath arguing. She simply picked up her phone and dialed Tommy, who was waiting for her in the parking lot since it was inappropriate for a man to sit with her in the private ward.
"Come up here," she ordered briefly.
Setting the phone down, she closed her eyes, completely ignoring Dannie's existence. Dannie stared at the pale woman on the bed, let out a cold scoff, and spun on her heel, marching out of the room.
Half an hour later, the IV drip finished. The doctor prescribed some nutritional supplements, and Tommy drove Felicia back to her apartment complex. The fluids had brought some color back to her cheeks, so she wouldn't have to worry about frightening Anne.
When she walked through the door, it was only three in the afternoon.
"Mommy, you're home so early!"
Seeing her daughter's sweet, innocent face, a surge of warmth rushed through Felicia's chest. "I came back early to spend time with you."
Mabel peeked out from the kitchen. "You're back right on time, Felicia! I just made some fresh pastries. Come have a taste, I guarantee they'll settle your stomach."
Felicia helped Anne wash her hands before sitting at the dining table. She took a bite of a cranberry tart. After finishing the whole piece, her stomach did feel remarkably better.
"Mommy, I tried calling Daddy today, but he didn't answer. Can you call him again?" Anne asked pleadingly.
Max immediately apologized. "I'm so sorry, Princess. I missed your call."
"That's okay! I know you're busy with work," Anne chirped cheerfully. "When are you coming home, Daddy? Mommy is sick."
Max's tone sharpened slightly. "Sick? What's going on with Mommy?"
"I don't know, she just feels really tired and unwell."
"I see. I will be back the day after tomorrow to see you and Mommy."
Anne cheered. "Yay! Oh, Daddy, I saw a beautiful pearl necklace in Mommy's closet today. I think Uncle Jeremy gave it to her! When you come back, you have to bring Mommy a present too! You have to bring her the prettiest necklace ever!"
Hearing this, the warmth vanished from Max's eyes, replaced by a dark chill. Yet, he kept his voice steady and gentle. "Did Mommy like the gift Uncle Jeremy gave her?"

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
