The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 86

Joel tried his best to keep the conversation going. Even though Juno's responses were aloof, she seamlessly kept up with whatever topic he threw at her.

Sports, finance, design, literature, art, jewelry, physics...

No matter what he brought up, Juno knew about it.

It was honestly a little terrifying.

Her sheer volume of knowledge was staggering.

Joel remained incredibly humble, asking her questions from time to time, and Juno patiently answered them all.

At the next table over, Rhiannon had noticed their interaction.

She knew who Joel was. He was arguably even more of a catch than Shane Sherwood.

Since Shane was currently giving her the cold shoulder, maybe...

Rhiannon slipped away when no one was looking, returning to her seat a few moments later.

Juno was in the middle of talking to Joel and didn't notice the waiter approaching. Right as she turned her head, the waiter fumbled, and a pitcher of scalding hot water spilled all over her.

Her sweater was instantly soaked.

Juno looked up. It was Jason Webb, her cousin.

Aunt Cynthia's son.

Dressed in a waiter's uniform, Jason had initially looked like he was going to apologize. But the moment he realized it was Juno, his guilt vanished.

Joel quickly stood up. "What happened?!"

Juno didn't move. She just stared dead at Jason.

There wasn't an ounce of remorse on Jason's face. He looked away, his voice rough and unapologetic. "My bad. It was an accident."

Juno didn't hesitate, completely unwilling to waste her time on him. Her eyes turned glacial. "Get your manager."

Jason scoffed, not taking her seriously at all. "You're going to make a fuss over something this small? Ever since you crawled back to the Corrington family, you've turned into an arrogant snob. Are you trying to boss me around?"

His voice was so loud that the noisy restaurant slowly grew quiet. Everyone turned to look at them.

Juno's expression was now terrifyingly cold. She arched an eyebrow and stared straight at a waitress hovering by the door. Her voice wasn't loud, but it dripped with pure ice. "Do I have to go get him myself?"

The waitress's knees buckled, and she sprinted out to find the manager.

Jason's face fell. Realizing Juno wasn't joking, panic set in. "Juno! Is this how you treat your own cousin?"

Joel looked back and forth between Jason and Juno. They were related?
