The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 100

Juno refused. "No need."

Back in her old life, she could walk tightropes in high heels and assassinate targets without breaking a sweat.

Shane didn't mind, just following behind as they walked inside.

But the moment her foot hit the stones, she twisted her ankle. Shane immediately lunged forward and caught her.

A herd of alpacas stampeded through Juno's mind. She completely forgot that her tightrope-walking days belonged to her previous life. In this weak, fragile body, she could trip on a completely flat surface.

Shane suppressed a laugh, pretending to be perfectly serious as he supported her inside.

But his amusement didn't escape her notice. Her face darkened. "I'm going to say this once. It was an accident."

"Of course." Shane kept his smile locked at a perfectly polite level.

They walked into the main hall. She was dressed in a sleek black evening gown, looking calm and incredibly elegant.

Shane noticed that she seemed to stick exclusively to black and white. He couldn't remember her ever wearing any other colors.

Mrs. Sherwood hurried over. "Juno, you made it!"

They always said that good news brought out the best in people.

The Sherwood family's status had been skyrocketing in Kingsland, leaving everyone stunned. On top of that, endless crowds of people were trying to win their favor. Compared to before, Mrs. Sherwood looked incredibly vibrant.

"Let's head inside."

"Alright."

In the car ride earlier, Mrs. Sherwood had chattered endlessly. Juno listened with immense patience, occasionally nodding along.

Shane watched her, his eyes full of warmth.

Once they reached the venue, the three of them stepped out and headed inside.

Gwendolyn Jagger and Rhiannon were also attending the event.

Babur Corrington had been dragged here against his will, having absolutely zero interest in galas. He figured that if he had to come, he could at least hang out with Juno. But to his absolute horror, she didn't come with them!

Now he just wanted the ground to swallow him whole.

He slouched lazily, completely lacking the refined posture of old money.
