Juno walked into the office just in time to see Edna deliver another ringing slap to Claire's face.

She strode forward, grabbing Claire and pulling the girl firmly behind her back. Her tall, imposing frame completely shielded Claire from view.

"It's been a few days, and you're looking as classy as a cheap knockoff."

Edna's attitude couldn't be too aggressive with Juno right there, but she still kept a cold face. "Thank you for the compliment, Ms. Mercer."

Edna didn't catch the insult, but the other three people in the room certainly did.

Juno was basically comparing her to a second-rate homewrecker, taking a direct shot at her status as a mistress.

"What exactly did Claire do to deserve getting slapped in the middle of a public office?"

"I don't think I need your permission to discipline my own daughter, do I?"

Juno ruthlessly slapped Edna across the face.

The advisor's eyes widened in sheer horror.

Sebastian didn't even flinch.

Claire was so stunned it took her a full second to react and grab Juno's arm.

Edna clutched her cheek and shrieked, her eyes bulging. "Ah!! Are you out of your mind?!"

Juno rubbed her wrist, her tone completely casual. "I don't need your permission to do this, either. But I won't stand around and watch her get hit."

The bodyguards behind Edna immediately lunged for Juno. But before they could even lay a finger on her, Morgan materialized out of nowhere. Moving with terrifying speed, he grabbed one of the bodyguards by the head and dragged him straight out the door.

"If Mrs. Whitman can't control her own hands, I'll control them for her. If you can't discipline your daughter properly, I'll do it for you."

Juno's voice was lethal. "Claire actually has manners, which is why she hasn't made your life a living hell all these years. But let's get one thing straight—you married into that family after her. You're second string. Claire is the actual daughter of the house. You're nothing but a glorified mistress. And a mistress doesn't get to lay a hand on the heiress."

The brutal truth completely shattered Edna's dignity.
