The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 70

She didn't spell it out, but the implication was crystal clear.

Claire offered a bitter, self-deprecating smile. "It's fine. It's just... the semi-finals against the International Trade Department are in three days."

With her sudden injury, the basketball team was left scrambling to find a replacement at the absolute last minute.

She looked at Juno hesitantly. "Juno... do you know how to play basketball?"

The split-second hesitation gave her away entirely. Claire knew she could play.

For the next two days, Claire practically shadowed Juno everywhere.

Eventually, the captain of the Computer Science basketball team personally tracked Juno down.

"Juno, Claire highly recommended you. Please, just give it a try. The Computer Science department barely has any girls to begin with. We literally can't find a fifth player."

Winning wasn't even the priority anymore; they just needed enough bodies on the court.

They had fought so hard just to make it to the semi-finals.

Juno didn't give them a definitive answer, but she did ask for the roster of the opposing team.

After two days of being relentlessly pestered by Claire, Juno finally needed an escape. Under the guise of buying Claire lunch, she slipped away.

Northbridge had five dining halls. Of course, the moment Juno walked into Dining Hall 3, she ran straight into Rhiannon and her crew.

Talk about awful luck.

Juno's gaze passively swept over Faye, who was now wearing a highly realistic wig that made her look exactly as she did before the incident.

But to Faye, that fleeting glance felt like a deliberate, mocking provocation.

Unable to control her rage, she marched aggressively toward Juno.

The cafeteria was packed. The slightest bit of drama instantly drew a massive crowd eager for a show.

Rhiannon tried to pull her back but couldn't stop her.

"Juno!"

Juno, who was standing in line, slowly turned her head and gave her a chilling stare.

"What the hell were you just looking at?!"

Faye demanded, her voice echoing loudly. She clearly wasn't afraid of Juno in broad daylight.
