A sudden commotion broke out outside as a maid tried to stop someone.
"Sir, you can't go in there!"
Kian roughly shoved the maid aside. "Get out of my way!"
He stormed into the room, his face dark with annoyance and irritation radiating from every pore.
Normally, people begged on their hands and knees for him to treat them. If Juno hadn't personally asked, there was no way he'd ever set foot in a dump like this!
And they actually had the nerve to try and block him?!
Kaelen rubbed his throbbing temples. Why was every random person trying to start trouble today?!
"And who the hell are you?!"
Kian didn't even fully look at him. "None of your damn business."
It wasn't like he was here to see him anyway.
Under the stunned gazes of the entire room, Kian walked straight up to Juno. "Who's dying?"
She had just told him to rush to the Jagger estate without giving any specifics.
"The matriarch."
"Then let's go take a look," Kian said.
He scanned the room, locking onto the doctors to get a briefing on her condition.
Even in that brief pause, Kaelen couldn't resist throwing out another insult. "They really let just any stray rat wander in off the streets nowadays."
In his mind, anyone associated with someone like Juno couldn't possibly be anyone important.
Nobody paid him any mind.
Kian looked directly at the lead doctor. "Give me a rundown of the situation. Right now."
The doctor was completely frozen in shock. It took Kian snapping his fingers a few times to snap him out of it, and he hurriedly explained the old lady's condition.
Kian exchanged a quick look with Juno. "Are you operating, or am I?"
"I am."
Kian agreed without hesitation. "Alright. I'll assist."
The two of them scrubbed in and entered the bedroom.
The room had been retrofitted to meet the exact standards of a hospital operating theater, meaning they could perform the surgery right there.
