The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 981

An invisible pressure loomed over the estate. Usually just solemn, today the atmosphere was downright suffocating.

Letty Palmer’s heart sank, a heavy sense of dread seizing her. She quickened her pace, practically rushing into the living room.

Sure enough, the sight that greeted her made her blood run cold.

Reese sat leisurely on the main sofa, acting like the lady of the house as she directed the staff to rearrange the centerpieces on the coffee table.

"Reese! What the hell is going on? Who are these strangers? Who gave Talbot's family permission to bring all these random people into the estate?" Letty snapped!

Hearing her voice, Reese slowly placed her gold-rimmed coffee cup back onto its saucer with a soft clink.

She lazily lifted her gaze, a blatant sneer playing on her lips. "Well, look who's back."

"Don't be so fiery. It's been a while, hasn't it? Why are you always yelling the second you see me?"

"Talbot is just doing this for Dad's safety. With everything going wrong lately and the house in chaos, it only makes sense to have extra security. We wouldn't want anyone with hidden agendas taking advantage of the situation and putting Dad at risk."

Reese’s words were laced with poison, neatly tossing the accusation of "random people" right back at Letty.

"You're talking nonsense!"

Letty was pale with fury, her chest heaving. "This is the Langley estate! The main branch runs this household! Since when does Talbot's side get to dictate the security detail here?"
