The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 999

"The board? The Palmers?" Talbot laughed like he had just heard a phenomenal joke. "Of course they wouldn't just sit back. That's why I made sure they're all taking a 'vacation'."

Seeing the color drain from Dante's face, he casually added, "As for the Fultons... they're outsiders. What right do they have to interfere with internal Langley business?"

"They should be on their knees thanking God that I'm stepping up. Think about it, Dad. You're practically ancient, and Letty doesn't know the first thing about running a corporate empire. You think the sharks on Wall Street wouldn't tear you both to shreds?"

He leaned in, his voice dropping into a sinister whisper. "Just sign it, Dad. Sign the papers, and you get to keep the title of Patriarch. You'll live out the rest of your days in absolute luxury. But if you don't..."

He stretched out the silence. "Those loyal old executives who helped you build this company? I doubt they'll get to enjoy their retirement."

Dante glared at him with pure hatred, then let out a chilling bark of laughter. "Talbot, you're delusional! Callahan isn't dead! I won't believe it until I see a body. And until that day comes, I will rot in hell before I sign my name on that paper!"

A flash of pure malice crossed Talbot's face, but he quickly smoothed it over with absolute arrogant confidence. "Fine. Then we wait. Let's see if Callahan's ghost walks through that door before you finally break."

He straightened up, adjusting his cufflinks like they were discussing the weather. "Oh, by the way, I almost forgot. Mr. Larson had a severe heart attack yesterday and was rushed to the ICU. And Mr. Watson was suddenly sent abroad for some 'medical treatments'. Your loyal circle seems to be dropping like flies."

Dante's hands balled into white-knuckled fists.

"You animal! You absolute monster!"

"Those men watched you grow up!"

Dante launched himself forward, desperately trying to push out of the chair, the veins in his withered hands bulging.
