The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 1003

When Talbot remained stubbornly silent, making no move to call for help, Dr. Watson knew there was no reasoning with them.

Remembering the old man's kindness over the years, he realized he couldn't just stand by and watch a murder happen. Steeling his nerves, he ignored the couple entirely, yanked his own phone from his pocket, and dialed 911.

"Hello, 911? This is the Langley estate..."

He barely got the words out before Talbot and Reese snapped into action. Neither of them expected the usually mild-mannered, obedient doctor to openly defy them.

"Don't let him make that call!"

"Get his phone!"

They had already crossed the Rubicon. The critical window for Dante's survival had passed, and there was no going back. If he survived and made it to the hospital now, they would be ruined.

Talbot's mind raced as he barked the orders at his security detail.

The two bodyguards stationed outside the door surged into the room. One violently wrenched the phone out of Dr. Watson's grip, while the other shoved him back, blocking his path to the exit.

Talbot looked down at his father. His eyes held a flicker of complicated grief, quickly smothered by absolute ruthlessness. He told himself this wasn't his fault. Dante had brought this upon himself by playing favorites. Even with Callahan supposedly dead, the old man had stubbornly refused to hand over the reins of the company.

Restrained by the guards, Dr. Watson stared at Talbot in utter disbelief.
