Knowing exactly how much Callahan meant to her sister, Libby paused to offer a sliver of comfort. "Letty, don't be scared. Callahan and Leilani are brilliant. They're survivors. They're going to be okay."
"Just hold down the fort over there. I'll call you the second I hear anything!"
The call ended abruptly, leaving a busy signal echoing in the room.
Drained of all her remaining adrenaline, Letty's phone slipped from her fingers as she slumped back into the sofa, her clothes soaked in cold sweat.
She looked at Dante, her voice weak but finally anchored by purpose. "She said yes. Libby's having the Fultons utilize everything they've got."
Dante gave a grim nod, his knuckles white as he gripped the head of his cane. "Good. The Fultons have been running logistics and mining operations over there for over a decade. Their roots run deeper than ours in that region, and they know the underground players. This is our best shot."
He paused, his voice dropping an octave, heavy with absolute authority. "But we can't just rely on them. Jarvis is already mobilizing our assets. Now, I need you to personally contact the Global Emergency Response Alliance. We partner with them frequently. Authorize a massive emergency relief fund under the Langley Group's name. Demand they assemble their most elite medical and search-and-rescue extraction team and deploy them to Mitchina immediately! The funds will come straight from my personal accounts. There is no limit!"
He stared out the window into the suffocating, endless night, as if his gaze could pierce the darkness and reach the distant warzone. His voice wasn't loud, but it was unshakeable. "The Langley bloodline doesn't fall that easily. We're going to stay right here, build the bridge, and pave the road for them to come home."
Meanwhile, at the Fulton estate.
"Now isn't the time to ask why!" Libby's eyes were rimmed with red. "Donovan, do something! We have partners over there, right? Send people to find them!"
"Take a breath. I'm on it." Donovan gave her a reassuring nod, striding over to the private, secure line in his study and dialing a number.
It was picked up almost instantly by a respectful voice. "Mr. Fulton?"
Donovan quickly issued a stream of precise, heavily guarded orders, his tone turning to pure steel. "Listen to me. If you get even a whisper of news, you report it directly to me. Understood?"
